have just done a restore from nokia pc (orig phone n80) has loaded everything back on the n73 ok BUT in the text messages it has only put the contact number not the persons name which is in the contact any how i can get it to read the persons name

i dont think you can, get someone to send you a test text and i think it will have the senders name, but the ones you put back in will still just show the number.
This is not a bug. Just get someone with the same number to text ou and the phone will pick it up.
It's merely a firmare issue as to why it doesn't work initially. It will be fixed in a future firmware
