OMG!!! Why after my firmware upgrade from 3.12 to 3.16 has the antenna sign under the signal bars changed into a "G" ??? Weird, WTH is it supposed to mean?

That means there's a GPRS signal. You can change your settings to make GPRS when needed.
Of course you knew that. How much for upgrade?
😃
I dont currently subscribe to GPRS, but will be moving onto it soon, when they offer it at an ok price. As I run off a large internet connection at work and at home there is hardly any need for me to spend lots of cash on something Im not gonna use.
So the "G" means that I "can" get GPRS "if I want to"
... Manuals are for ppl who have time...
It shouldnt show the G if youre not subscribing to GPRS I think, the G shows that GPRS is available.

Nope, not subscribing currently.
Does it just mean that it is reception is available, and if I was to subscribe it would be on?
And as I said, manuals... nah
A "G" not in a box means that you're attached to the GPRS network. It's a bit weird that you're getting this if you haven't subscribed to GPRS. Maybe your network just automatically enables everyone's SIM for GPRS? A "G" in a box means that you have a GPRS context activated, ie. you are connected and can transfer data.
well the G is only there when the GPRS connection is available!! you can change it though under Settings-Connection-GPRS-when needed !!

if there is "G" symbol
it means that the operator is already turn on ur GPRS subscription and u r using it
if u r not subscribe for the GPRS yet, it is imposibble that the "G" symbol is there
maybe ur operator know u'll subscribe for GPRS so they just turn it on. kind of spies 😃 😃 😃 😃
Now if its been enabled for free that would be sooooooooo cool! As it is a premium service that I dont require at the moment, Im not complaining!
Yeah!!! Gprs activation for free... Sweet. 😉
If the G is on your display you are connected to the gprs network, but you are not using it, when a box is around the G you are using it, you can have a g in tour display whitout subscribing to the service. You just wont be able to get data
Thanks Steege & everyone else... I know now what the phone is trying to tell me. 😃
No problem 8)
you can turn it off by selecting the gprs settings and choose : when needed
