I was just contacted by my provider. I'm a business client so they contacted SE for me to ask when the P800 will be released. It's the 2nd biggest provider in Belgium (Mobistar) that did that for me.
They just phoned me and said that SE Belgium said that the P800 will be delayed in Belgium untill the summer 2003 because of some problems??!!
He couldn't get more info from SE.
I almost got a hartattack when i heard!!! Can anyone explain this to me please or give me more info???

They said it was normally planned for the end of this year but is now delayed AGAIN untill february!!! pffff ... It's better then summer but again it's 2 months later!!! I can't stand it anymore!!! HELP

Oh man after all the long wait, and now the extension of waiting?? What is actually going on, after some URL states that os is stable, and ready to roll out before christmas, later jan, now summer?? :cry:
I got a feeling that it will end up in the same state as sony z700.
I emailed SE singapore few weeks ago but they said they cannot reveal anything.

If it's not available until january, I'm either buying developer's kit or a PDA. Getting tired of waiting (aren't we all?).
I'm still hearing January. Inevitably there's going to be kloads of speculation....
Liken it to the 7650, its first started becoming available in July, but wasn't till September that it really took off.

July is my deadline for buying a P800 because I will go on vacations and will need a HTML-enabled GPRS colour device for accessing web meteo info sites in real time away from civilization (HangGliding/Mountains too many flying days lost in the wrong take-off waiting for the right winds just because real-time wind direction tendency info missing).
If by July P800 is still not out I will have no choice but to pick a BT-GPRS phone + BT-PDA.

i work for belcompany in belgium and we had a launchparty for mms last weekend. I was so lucky to get to play with a p800 and when i asked when it would be released they said the end of january because it has to be released at the same time everywhere, so lets hope proximus was right
The thing is pocket space is really at a premium in a HangGlider harness (the *cocoon* that we go in)
and having a MMS enabled phone available after landing can be crucial both for documenting record distance
flights as for helping the retrieve folks finding you (you can be more than 100km away in a completly unknown
to them area).
The P800 will still fit one of the pockets, phone + PDA solution PDA too bulky and will probably stay
behind in the car.
This is why I can wait for the P800 until July because no other solution fits my needs.

Just read that the P800 will be available in very small quantities in Sweden, Italy and Germany on the 16th Dec!!!! Only for the lucky ones who pre-ordered.
Other countries will have to wait untill end of jan-feb the buy one according to this post!!!
This really sucks for those other countries, like Belgium where I live!!!

I cant think of a reason why would SE do that.Are they forced to? So many delays made them loose a lot of potential costumers,with this step they might win some back,but why the delays,if the delay is because the p800 has serious problems/bugs,then the first realeses for Sweden, Italy and Germany should be buggy too.Thousands of buggy p800s floating arround would not be wery nice.
There was a rumour some time ago in one of the posts, that there are quite large quantities of P800s but their firmware has to be upgraded. This might take some time.

I now think I was fouled by my friend that either was playng a practical joke on me (knowing how eager I am to get my hands on a P800) or he simply can not tell the difference between a P800 and a N7650 or GX-10.
Every time I asked him for more info on this subject he could not give me any.

I've been reading to many speculations in this forum about the possible release date of the P800. As a journalist, writing a Christmas shopping special for a magazine, I thought 'let's check the facts'. I called Peter Bodor, press spokesman for Sony Ericsson in Stockholm today. I'll share his statement with you:
"The P800 will be out before Christmas in the following markets: Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Italy and Hongkong. All the other markets will start receiving it January/February 2003. The phone will be distributed through the network operators. It's up to the operators to define the pricing for the P800, depending on contracts that come with the phone. Without a contract the phone should be priced around 600 Euros."
600 Euros! That sounds like a very good price for the P800 with no contract!
