Can someone explain to me the mystery of how Orange determine the difference between a photo message and an MMS? I have just received a bill from them that includes a handful of MMS message charges which I am not happy about. I naievely assumed that if you take a photo with your N80, and then send it to your mates it would be classed as a photo message of which I have a free bundle of 30, an not as an MMS for which Orange want me to pay for extra.

According to the man at Orange, photo messages have a size limit of 50k, bigger than that they are classed as an MMS. So how the heck do I know whether the photo that I am going to send will be classed as a photo message or an MMS message? If I look through my gallery, my photos range from 800kb each to 1100kb each, so how do I work out whats what? To be honest this has annoyed me to say the least, its seems a sneaky way to charge you when you assume that a photo message is exactly that - a photo message not a multimedia one. Help!!!

the pictures in your gallery are not the same ones that get sent, its the same image but probably resized to 800x600 or 640x480, i think you can change it by going into messaging>options>settings>multimedia message>image size, here you can choose from small, large or original 😊
