Nokia E61 :: RM-89 MCU SW v 2.0618.06.05
Nokia has released a new firmware version for Nokia E61. Firmware 2.0618.06.05 will be available progressively in the next few days in the official Nokia Points and Nokia Service Points.
This release should improve the Nokia E61 performance as well as fixing known bugs and problems from previous versions. Read more in short the bulletin of the changes issued from Noki.. . .

Hopefully, the list of changes is not comprehensive as there is no mention of any WLAN improvements. Has anyone with the new firmware found any WLAN improvements?

Upgraded mine today, what WLAN problems did u have before?
The E61 seems to have problems working with some wireless routers. I have to disable power saving on the E61 to get it to work with my Zyxel router, although it worked fine with a 3Com router, but the Zyxel is a much better ADSL modem!

I second that. I have a Linksys access point here at home and unless power saving is disabled in the E61's wireless advanced options, webpages will load halfway and then stop. With power saving disabled, web browsing works normally.

Perhaps we should blame the routers, not the E61.
If they dont properly support power save mode, It wont work. can you use power save mode with a laptop on the router where the E61 fails ?

For those having problems with WLAN, it does not matter who is to blame. The question is does the latest firmware improve WLAN performance?

Can't help really help you as my E61 with ver 1 and ver 2 firmware works perfectly with my Linksys WiFi router.
As an aside, I spent 10 years as technical director in ZyXEL's Irish distributor and know their products very well, and I agree they are normally technically brillant products.
