So all of a sudden sending a text has become an unbareable task. I believe (speculating) that this might have to do with putting a cingualr SIM card to test out because it seems like ever since then texting has slowed down. Before, sending a text would take mere seconds, now it lags for about 30-40 seconds then finally sends. Any suggestions on how to fix this ?

This is a recurring problem I have with the E61 and I've found no permanent solution. A backup and hard reset will make the issue disappear but after about two weeks, SMS sending will start to slow down again.
Hopefully the new firmware upgrade fixes this.

What's your firmware version? Dial #*0000# to get it.
I had this problem - since I upgraded to 3.0633.09.04 it's been fine. Much faster.
Firmware version 3.0633.09.04 already has the SMS acceleration as part of the firmware.
