Hi to all..
I need your recommendation on what is the best mmc to be used with my N70. Currently i'm using a 1GB Kingston RS-MMC and it seems that the Kingston MMC is a bit slow when writing data to the card. When saving video recordings to the card, the video seems jerky and lagging. Other than that, the card seems fine. The problem is just with the video recording. So.. for N70 owners out there, please suggest me on the best MMC to be used with my N70. The available MMC in my country (MALAYSIA) are Apacer, Transcend, Sandisk, Pendrive and of course KINGSTON...
Thanks in advance
I read also always that, Kingston doesnt work very well. And my advice, is not about brands, but about speed, buy the fast You can get, because all device works well better.
If speed is the matter, then what is the speed that will result in good video recording?
Cards with transfer rate of 7Mb/s or more... my experience, without any kind of problems.
Apacer, Transcend, Sandisk, Pendrive
Does anyone ever tried these MMC card brands on their N70? Please share your experience on these brands. thanks.
I have the SanDisk piece-of-shit-MMC. I had to select the phone memory for recording CIF at 15 fps. The tricky part is that the card reder shows around 3MB/s when writing on it and around 8MB/s when reading.
Somebody needs to report this to Nokia.
This seems to be a very consistent problem among N70 owners. I've been all over the internet (Nokia forums, Iphone forums etc) discussing this problem and still have yet not come up with any solution.
Like somebody else pointed out before, if the vid record is laggy, it means your card is not legit. Get it from mobymemory or a box packed 100% original card, and see if the problem persists on that.
@NiJ : All Rs-DV cards have around 7/8 mb write/read speeds.
N70's video recording goes at maximum of 100kB/s approx. I don't think the speeds of the card are the problem here. If you observe closesly, Kingstons-Transend-Sandisk etc they all say the same speeds on their cards yet many people are problem specificaly when VIDEO RECORDING.
I think this is serious issue which needs to get more researched and hopefuly resolved.
Edit: Someone I know from Howardforums bought a 2gb kingston from EBAY, and says he has no lags when recording video on high quality with sound on, even when he filled it up his card to more than 1gb.
Ofcourse, Ebay is FULL of sellers from Asia selling fake ass mmc crap, they do a good job at making it all seem legit but actually they're not.

Not all! Go to a Mobymemory or RobGalbraith site and see the differences.
Just was wondering....

i was thinking why not try disc partitioning....
the truth is i av not tried it myself so i dun exactly know wat would happen.
Obvoiusly u will need a card reader to achieve d abv said
then after dat format it using FAT with smaller allocation units
wit regular defrag i think der might [might ] be n improvement.
m jst waitin to get a 1gb mmc myself
so any1 out here who has d time n d resources....cld u pls confirm

Is there something wrong with your keyboard?
I bought ScanDisk 1 GB Reduced Size MMC. If I insert it in my N70, the mobile doesn't recognize it. I went to Tools->Memory. It says that memory card is not inserted. Should I do any thing to the MMC before using it in my cell phone? Please advice!
Thanks,
Siva
Take your card back, you just bought a normal RS MMC and not a dual volatge one. I made the same mistake with my 3230 when I bought a 512 MB card and the phone didn't recognized it. So: take the card back from where you took it and change it with a DV RS MMC.
Hi ratza,
Thank you very much for your advice.
Only now I learned that there are two different cards - Dual Voltage and normal one.
Thanks,
Siva
