Updated S60 device history

Shameless self/site promotion again, but I've been updating my (hopefully definitive) table of S60 smartphones and their attributes, with new models and more mini-reviews. Presenting S60 device history.

Read on in the full article.

I agree with your points about the N80 battery life (disappointing) and the camera quality (fine, but not *very* good). But with the latest firmware the device is very, very stable. I guess it's all because 3rd edition is maturing, and this device was one of the first.

It's a great table, no question. Just a couple of minor corrections: if you put 3250 & 5500 processor speed as 'not known' then you should have the same on E50, right?

For E62, have you actually checked the details or just copied from E61? There are differences..

The inclusion of E70-2 sticks to my eye most, because then you should be including all of the other variants of other models also. And there are many, as can be seen from couple of places:

I was assuming that the E50 had the same core as the E60 etc. The 3250 and 550 are 'different' 8-)

No Wi-Fi or 3G, as per my table. What have I missed?

Oh, I know there are minor frequency differences for many models, according to market, but this is the first time I've seen a GSM frequency substituted for 3G, making it a subtly different beast - or am I wrong? Has this happened before?

Steve

I see on your table that the E61 is said to have 20MB of free RAM. Mine has more than 24MB of free RAM after booting up (regardless of the theme used). This drops to 24MB after Contacts has been launched and to a bit more than 23MB after Messaging has been launched.

Probably because you've applied the new firmware! At some point, when the majority of devices have the newer software, I'll update the table.

Steve

No, i'm still running with firmware v1. I've always had more than 24MB free RAM after rebooting even though i now have dozens of apps installed and hundreds od SMS and emails on the thing. No that it matters much anyway.
