My new E61!

Hello everyone out there! I got myself an E61, to be precise a month ago. I wanted to post about it immediately after getting it, but then I went abroad and then after I returned, I got health problems! Now I'm ok! More like becoming normal..

I got my phone for about 415 euros (a month ago) in India. I was somewhat full of excitement when I got it, because it was my first QWERTY phone.. And I was always mad about messaging.. My previous phone, the 3650 rocked for 3 years before it turned out unstable for me to use lol! Till now, I got sum few things which I dislike in this phone, but I'll get used to them or I'll find a way to solve them!

They are:
1. Speed: When I got my phone, it was fast, speed, as in processing after clicking send of txt. I went upto 1,500 txts stored before the phone became too slow to use. After I deleted all of them, STILL its slow as how it was before I deleted the txts. (back in the 3650, after i delete up the txts, it would be fast again.) :frown: that it ain't like that in this phone.

2. Browser: At d first, I got my Ad-hoc wlan to work with ease. I was very happy about it. But then after some days, I couldn't get it to work. Whenever I would click search for wLan access point and find my Ad-hoc network, on clicking it, it would say "Unable to connect to network", and if I select it from my preferred access points, it would go on connecting and never connect. Sigh! So I started using i-GPRS. Another irritating thing in the browser is, after browsing quite a lot of pages, suddenly the browser closes. Its irritating especially if I'm reading some important information after spending quite sometime searching for it.

3. Joystick: The joystick feels so loose & creaky now. When I try out my spare phone- 6020's joystick, its so firm even after quite a year of usage. Dunno why its so weal in this phone.. Why, I even think that sometimes it may not last (especially for those heavy users) and may have to go replaced sometime.

Umm.. Thats all for now, maybe tomorrow I'll update it again..

Back to updating..

4. Battery: It's confusing. Sometimes when I fully charge it, it stays full for a day, approx and then very soon each bar goes down. The other day in the first day itself it went down to 1 bar, but stayed in 1 bar for like one day. :con? before it finally died out! I know that its a 1,500mAH battery and the 262k screen drains out quite a lot of power, shouldn't it be lasting about 3 days though I don't use much of wLan and bluetooth, the main drainers of the battery.

5. Network: In such cases where I run out of network, that is when I'm travelling, I get the 3g symbol next to the network bars. Its so unusual. Cos my network isn't 3g, why does it display 3g when there's no network? LOL 😃

6. Menu UI: Two such times have happened when I just opened the menu normally and inside each folder, all the icons were replaced with a jigsaw puzzle icon and no text. I had to reboot to solve this. I don't know whatever caused this problem!

7. G!Mail: I had hoped to use G!Mail on the phone. But whenever I would try to connect, it would pop-up the username and password dialog everytime and then the connection would be terminated tho its the right username and password. Dunno whats wrong here! Maybe someone could help me here!

And oh Yeah, my F/W is 19-04-06, RM-89, 1.0610.04.04

Thanks a loT!

Do You have already the last firmware version? If not, try the Nokia Sofware Updater tool, now, also for E61.
