Hi everyone,

I'm Stephen.. I'm new here, but I've sort of been spying on the place for a wee while. I read some very helpful posts from you guys before I bought (or upgraded to, hehe) my N73. Now that I have it, it's pretty much living up to my expectations; I think it's a really great phone, but I haven't quite worked out how to use all the features yet. Just wondering if any of you could possibly help me out with a few things. =)

I seem to be getting a 'memory full, try closing some applications' message when I try to zoom in on an image or play a video, sometimes. Most of the time I just try a few more times and it'll work, but sometimes it doesn't. Not sure why this is. I have hardly anything stored on the phone, either.

Also, I was used to having an SMS counter on my old phone (Sony Ericsson K750i), which I grew very attached to.. and I thought since my friend's older Nokia had one of these, that the new ones would too.. I can't seem to find it. Can anyone tell me if there is one, or if I can get some kind of app that'll do it for me?

Finally, this one's a bit trivial but if you don't ask you'll never know! I can't seem to set an image as my wallpaper and have it full screen. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me!

Stephen

No direct way to set an image as a full-screen wallpaper. Only way to do it seems to be by creating a theme and using the image as the theme background. A theme editor, the S60 Theme Studio, is available on http://forum.nokia.com (note that it is a big and slow app, and not necessarily the most easy to use).

The memory referred to is RAM, not storage memory. There are RAM optimisation problems with the first generation of firmware for almost all the S60 3rd Edition devices.

Give it a few weeks and then upgrade the firmware and things should be a lot better in this regard.

Hi Steve,

Thanks. I read somewhere that Nokia haven't yet released a firmware update for the N73 - is that correct? And when they do, is that something I can do myself, online.. or is it something I'd have to get a Nokia store to do?

Nokia has released improved and faster tool for editing themes. Have a look at http://forum.nokia.com, look for Carbide.ui S60 Theme Edition 3.1 for Symbian OS.
