Clearout time at Nokia?

14 replies · 2,108 views · Started 13 September 2006

Thanks to Darla for spotting that Nokia are having a bit of a clearout - the RAM-challenged 6680 and the Linux-powered and utterly niche 770 'Internet tablet' are now available as a bundle for less than £400. A bargain bundle, I guess, but sorry guys, we didn't want to buy either of them in the first place...

Read on in the full article.

Yeah Steve, what's wrong with the 770 - I once watched Snakes on a Plane on it and that did it for me! 😊

Oh indeed. I'm sure you can shop around and find each for less, adding both prices up...

So not a bargain at all, as it turns out....

I was only trying to heap scorn on a not very attractive product bundle.... 8-)

The question is: Whats wrong with the PRICE of 6680 + 770😉

There's nothing wrong with it. Don't mind them, they're a fickle bunch here 😊

I remember when it was the coolest thing on the block. Not that long ago either.

Eh? I've always looked down on the 6680's lack of free RAM.... otherwise it's a good 2nd generation smartphone, and was fairly cutting edge in its day. But, as with all the 3rd Edition devices so far, lack of RAM let it down. WHEN will Nokia learn this lesson?

Steve

Nokia 6680, only 3G S60 that can share a video over video calling.

Strange how neither the 6630 or the N70 can do that.

I just knew some 6680 and 770 owners would take my comment personally 8-)

Re: video calling: another rant... I've never in my life successfully made a video call. Any other Luddites out there? or are you all hardened video callers?

Steve

I make lots of video calls, but then I do have 50 videocall minutes to use up each month.
The alternative to picking up this combo deal is to buy a N80.

"another rant... I've never in my life successfully made a video call. Any other Luddites out there? or are you all hardened video callers?"

They used to say that about photo messages too in the days when cameraphones were quite rare.

I think it's just a case of waiting for 3G, wi-fi and front-mounted cameras to become standard features.
