Which version of S60 games should I be downloading for my 5500...

I see many versions of S60 some with different screen resolutions...

and How many pixels does my phone display xxxx by xxxx ?

maxmix

The screen is 208x208, unlike the usual S60 v1 and v2 phones. Try some apps and see what works.

The 5500 is a S60 3rd edition, so (as far as I know) most 3rd edition games work on the 5500.

Unlike 1st and 2nd edition, 3rd edition S60 has a feature called scaling that lets apps work on lots of different screensizes.

That's why there are so many different screens on 3rd edition S60 phones, because the new edition's software supports lots of different screensizes.

The 5500 has 208 pixels by 208 pixels (which is a bit larger than the 1st and 2nd edition 176 by 208).

If the games or other applications are well designed, they work on any screen - S60v3!

Exactly. V3 is a great step forward, but not many people realise that V3 apps can work with lots of different screens.

Thanks guys... I have tried a few different versions and some work fine some the screensize is too small, I just wanted to know for definite....

So S60 V3 it is.... and thanks about the 208 x 208 😊

Glad we could help, maxmix. 😊

Just one warning though: The 5500 has the smallest screen of the 3rd Edition phones, so while most software should run with no problems you may have trouble actually using some of it, because it's too crowded on-screen or because the font sizes are too small to read easily.

i make 208x208 java games by myself
this is a sample how a do it

Manifest-Version: 1.0

MIDlet-Version: 1.0.2
MIDlet-Vendor: Play Wireless
Nokia-MIDlet-Original-Display-Size: 176,208
Nokia-MIDlet-Target-Display-Size: 208,208
