N80 PC Suite for Intel Mac

Hello people,

Just wondering if anyone can help me. I have just purchased the N80 and want to be able to run iSync with my Intel Mac but can't for the life of me find anything on the net. If anyone can provide me with a link it would be mighty helpful.

Cheers

Suck 1: Nokia don't do a version of PC suite for the Mac. You might be able to get the PC version running with Boot Camp or parallels, but that would defeat the object since (I assume) you want to be able to sync with iCal and Address Book.

Suck 2: Apple does not yet support the N80 natively with iSync. This really p*sses me off.

However, what you seek is here...

It's a plug-in that will let you use iSync to sync your N80 calander and contacts with iCal and address book. It's not free and you have to get used to its quirks, but I find it perfectly usable. Top-tip: make sure you back up regularly.

If you are feeling brave, it is also possible to hack the iSync plist files yourself to add compatibility for the N80 (ie, for free). I'd say only try this if you really know what you are doing, and be extra-careful when you upgrade OS X. One advantage of using novamedia is that (based on past experience) they are pretty good at issuing free upgrades when apple uprgade the OS.

I use the plug-in from here: http://web.mac.com/mac.tomster/iWeb/mactomster/isync-plugin.html

Unfortunately it's in German, but it's still quite simple. Download the plug-in. Close iSync (make a backup copy), drag and drop the orange coloured file to the red-marked file, start iSync and pair phone. Easy.

The only issue I had is that the illustrated N80 phone is Black. I replaced the image in the plug-in with a silver one I found somewhere via Google (sorry, can't find the link at the moment). If you need the silver image, let me know, I'll have another look later.

Here is a link to the the isync hack. just back up the file you are changing first. I know nothing about scripts and i did it in a few seconds.

On the page I linked to is a link to an apple forum. If you go through that thread you will find an icon for an n80, in both silver or black
