PC suite connection problem N73

2 replies · 16,094 views · Started 16 September 2006

Hi,

I just got an N73 last week, and PC suite was working fine, until thismorning, when it stopped connecting with the phone.
I am using the data cable, PC suite directs me to click the 'get connected button' which then tells me 'there is no available connection type and therefore connection to the phone cannot be established. The wizard will exit'.
then ' failed to detect available connection types, please reinstall PC Suite'
So i did the repair function on the cd, which didnt help, then uninstalled and reinstalled PC suite (restarting computer appropriately).
Also trying to use 'manage connections' results in the message 'Connection to nokia PC suite failed. please reinstall nokia pc suite (Code: Init ImediaControl2)'

Anyone know what I can do?? It's pretty anoying taking the mmc out everytime I want to move data (i have no finger nails!)

Cheers

Ali

I don't know what has changed on your PC to change PC suite behaviour like this. If it worked before, it couldn't have broken on itself, but something must have happened (some other sw was installed or updated, registry settings changed, or something).

Anyhow, check the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) on http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite for similar issues and possible resolutions.

Try also the latest version that can be downloaded from there.

I had a similar problem with a N73 after I updated PC Suite from nokia.co.uk (to version 6.83.14.1). It seemed to work OK for a while, but some time after, lost the ability to connect (got the error message "there is no available connection type"😉 when using the USB data cable. It looked like the USB dirver was corrupt or not starting because the N73 device didn't appear under the toolbar icon Unplug or Eject Hrdware.

After trying all the usual things (reinstall, reboot PC & phone) etc), I finally used Windows Uninstall to take off all Nokia programs (there were about 4 different things listed), and then used Windows Search to delete EVERYTHING to do with Nokia from the PC. That took out all the USB drivers etc, even stuff in the temporary files & folders. Everything. Kill it all.

Then download and re-install PC Suite.

That did it for me - happily re-connected 😊
