E50 or E60 ??

6 replies · 2,899 views · Started 20 September 2006

Which of these two do I choose? Both run the same OS and both have similar features, E50 is smaller and has camera (which I'm not too fussed about) and the E60 has WIFI which I'm not sure I'd use if I'm honest.

Have either of them got any major issues that you are aware of - I have read on a forum that the E60 battery life is not great (2 days or so!)

I loved my 6310i which I'm relunctant to get rid of even though I don't use it anymore! so needs to be a worthy replacement.

Thanks for your help

Shaun

Of those two, I'd pick the E50 with camera (there's also an E50 without). Nicer size & with 3G I can live without Wi-Fi on the phone.

You could also consider the 5500?

I replaced my 6310i with an E60 and am very happy. I did not want a camera because many of the places I go on business do not allow camera phones on their sites. Even if you do not think you'd use wifi it never hurts to have an extra option and you might be surprised. I use the wifi on my E60 extensively. The only other reason why you may want an E50 over an E60 is that the E50 is a quad band phone. So if you live in the US or travel here frequently, you'll have better coverage, in theory. However, I live in the US and have never had the 850 MHz band (the 6310i had the same frequencies as the E60) and have never been without coverage.

About wifi: when i got my E61, i didn't think that wifi would be of much use since there are no wifi hotspots anywhere near where i live or go (northern ireland) and i didn't have a wifi router at home.

But one month after having had my E61, i got a small pay raise and decided to get myself a wifi router (a D-Link wifi b/g router/modem that i got on sale for 55). I now hardly switch on my home PC anymore. Whenever i get back home, i launch messaging and Opera Mobile with the 4 news pages and blogs that i read daily on the E61 and use that whenever i want to check my emails or check whenever something new has been posted on my favourites sites. I can do that lying on my sofa instead of having to stand up, go to my desk and try to push all the mess away in order to be able to move the mouse. And whenever i feel a bit nostalgic, i launch Internet Radio, connect the phone to my stereo and listen to some french radios. That's so much more easier and practical than having to use my PC that i don't think i could live without wifi anymore

I have an E50 and all in all it would be a great phone if it wasn't for the usual gripe of the font size being ridiculously small. The fact that it is sold as a business phone with multiple applications only makes matters worse as the screen is vitually unreadable without a magnifying glass. The camera is not the best ever produced. It works well with Navicore satnav though.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.1; U; en-us) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413 es60)

Have you chosen yet? I'm really getting in to using my e60.
