I have read all the threads on AAS regarding memory card locks, and I cannot find a solution to my problem.
I have an E70, and I have not set a password on my memory card. I made the mistake of trying the Settings > Security > Phone & SIM > Allow remote lock feature. I sent the activating text message to the phone, and it locked. I had a "PIN code" set for the SIM and a "Lock code" set for the phone, but I had not even known about the option to lock the memory card.
As a result, the phone seems to have automatically placed a code to lock the memory card. I have tried examining the card on two computers (PC and Mac), and they both act like the card is unreadable.
I cannot find documentation of what default "Memory card password" (as prompted upon inserting the card) or "Password" (as prompted from the Tools > Memory Card application) Nokia has applied to the card.
If this is not a Nokia matter and the default password is an inherent feature of miniSD cards, I cannot find evidence of what my SanDisk Ultra II 2.0GB miniSD might have set as a default password.
Can anyone help me get the card unlocked? I cannot see the file system in order to use some of the workarounds outlined in other posts.
I have been disappointed in a number of similar quirks in this, my first S60 device. It seems like a device this expensive that is on this revision of the OS ought to be more carefully thought-out. Features like the automatic disabling of Auto Header Retrieval the first time the phone fails to connect to the mail server seem absurd and not-ready-for-prime-time.
Thanks, in advance, for any help you can give.

Yes, that silly thing gave me a fright as well. It's not documented anywhere (neither in the user guide, nor on the help file) but when you activate the remote lock feature, the SMS remote lock code that you set there is also used as the memory card password. So whenever it asks you for the memory card password, enter the remote lock message you've set when activating the remote lock feature.
Thank you! My SMS was longer than the password field: it actually truncates the SMS text into whatever will fit into the password field.
You have saved me much grief.
Gus
I would have never thought. I think I must have tried like 20 passwords.
Thank you again!

Yeah that sucks. But rather than addressing these concerns and polishing up the firmware for existing phones, Nokia are instead hell-bent on releasing new models (most likely with the same faults).
Hi,
I have a simular problem. I have a N95 and updated the firmware, after the upgrade it asked me to enter the memory password. I have never activated this and after the default password.
I have contacted Nokia they say I need to contact sandisk. I called sandisk and they advised you can not set a password for the Micro SD and I would need to get the unlock code from Nokia. 😮 I called Nokia and they said they do not have a password for it.
Pulling my hair out and don't have much hair left!!!😡
Can anyone help?:frown:
Thanks in advance.
Try the lock code you have on the phone.
i have the same problem after software update - nokia e90
lock code is not ok :frown:
And i don't remember remote code i set. there were some bad words in Romanian, like 'blow my dick you mother fucker' 😮
So...i will have to format it and next time i will choose more orthodox words for remote lock
guyz i have a Nokia e63 and my memory card was locked automatically ..... 1st it shows the msg tht memory card is corrupted ......
soln ----->>
first remove u r card
restart mobile
insert u r card (backup u r data in u r pc)
format the card through mobile (dnt worry it dnt ask for password if the handset is same)
(go to memory -options- format mem card)
nw again go to memory card-options-remove password -
insert the string which is u r "remote lock code string" which u have set for locking the device remotely
n see the magic u r card is unlocked nw ....
this worked for me after a long RnD on internet as i have faced the same problem
dnt belive on the bullshit tht tell to install file explorer then search for mmcstore file n u will get password written in it (nokia is not so stupid to do it in E Series phones)....
I HOPE IT MAY HELP U .....
