Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, I searched around but couldn't find this specific issue.
I just recently downloaded PC Suite for use with my N80, previously I just transferred data in offline mode, anyway, so far I really like it. Much better.
I am in the process of making my address book as accurate and detailed (birthdays, addresses, e-mails, the works) as possible (using XP's address book), which is a slow and painful process.
One thing I can't work out is the contacts in PC suite. Every other function of PC suite I have used has worked like a charm. I can read all my text message on my computer, transfer music, view photos/videos etc. But whenever I click the "Contacts" button, there is no contacts listed in there. It's just empty. I have maybe 150-200 contacts on my phone, with varying degrees of detail, and not one of them shows up on the PC. Is there a certain trick to it? I was going to Sync but wasn't sure what would happen? Does my XP address book overwrite whats in my phone or vice versa?
As a side note, although I can view my messages on the PC, only the senders number is listed, not their name. My guess is that this is related to the contacts not showing up on the PC, but I'm not sure.
Ideas?
mine is similar, although not empty it only contains roughly 125 contacts , yet have about 400++ on the phone!!!!
want to back them up incase i loose the phone!!! :con?
PC Suite synchronises with address book and then it synchronises separately to Nokia Phone Browser (as kind of a "Nokia own PIM"😉.
When you connect and highlight the contacts folder in File Manager (under phone), you can press f5 to force the update(=sync) or there is also a separate small butoon that becomes visible in the window when you highlight contacts or messages folder.
If it still fails, you can delete sync files from:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Phone Browser\Nokia xxxx\Contacts
Delete all files there to clear the situation reopen File Manager - Contacts and see if the update happens
If I try to sync when PC suite is not even showing up ANY of my phones contacts, then what will it do? My main problem is that no contacts are showing up in PC Suite, despite the fact that I have 200-odd stored on my phone.
And I am still not sure I understand what will happen if I DO hit the sync button. Will it copy my PC XP Address Book contacts to my phone (and overwrite and replace whats there), will it copy my N80 contacts to my XP Address Book (and overwrite and replace whats in THERE), OR will it splice both sets of contacts together?
