Strange... Do You have enouth memory clean for the installation process?
i also turn off my phone and it didnt work.
there is special games for thr N73???
No! I have several Java games on N73, and I donne the installation process without problems. Its weird...:frown:
Hi All,
I am also getting the same issues. I am aware there is specific 3rd edition java games but they wont install. The installation ba gets 3/4 of the way then it says something like "Cannot Install". I have the latest firmware installed which is V3.0638.0.0.1. It strange that some can and some cannot.
My N73 will not accept anything with ext *.jar
I am not a techie so any help would be really appreciated - thanks 4 reading.
try installing on Phone memory..
Hi All,
1. I backed up all phone mem to SD card (via phone) and backup using pc suite (via pc) - all ok
2. I cannot do hardware reset as I don't have "Lock Code" (i rang 3 uk for lock code and they weren't helpful as usual) so instead I used Nokia Phone Updater and re-loaded the firmware (as there was no update). By doing this you basically refresh everything on your phone in effect giving you a "clean" install. NOTE: you will lose all data on the phone such as contacts, SMS, MMS and user settings.
3. I then tried to install *.jar games and they all installed on both phone and SD card without getting the error. This resolved the problem but I had a phone with no contacts!!!
4. I then put the SD card in my phone, it comes up with stripe bar saying "Installing". I don't understand what it is trying to install?? Maybe user settings that were backed up on sd card??
5. I then connect my phone to PC suite and select "BAckup" and using the restore function only select the "Contacts" and click restore. I can't be certain but I think it came with window saying "Phone will now re-boot". So the phone reboots. After rebooting the java games I installed were still on the phone (phone mem) and working ok. My contacts were also restored!!
6. I then tried to install some more JAVA games but it did not work and I got the same error as before!!!! 😞 - back to square one!!
Conclusion:
There seems to be a hidden setting somewhere on the phone that prevents *.Jar games from being installed on the phone. As you can see I haven't found the answer to fix the bug but an alternate solution. Not sure if its firmware or some sort of security module.
As I have all my important stuff such as images and contacts backed up I think I will just do another firmware update. Enter all the contacts manually or bluetooth from my 6680 (back up phone) and setup the phone from scratch.
This whole experience has put me off the N73, there are better phones on the market these days without this hassle. What were Nokia thinking??
