Ok, anyone got an idea of when the N80 will be added to the list of phones you can update. I know some people said they used the software with their N80 and it recognised their phone, came up with a picture and updated the phone, even though it is not on the list. But others tried the same and it did not work.
So whats the story? Has anyone asked nokia and had a reply? Or has anyone updated with the software updater?
Thanks for any info!
Well hopefully soon. We know it will be on there the question being how soon?
But it will come so dont worry.
Where is/do u get this software updater? do you mean firmware ?

yes its firmware, but nokia have decided to call it software! -wouldnt be so bad in the 3310 days, but now our phones are loaded with software and firmware it would be nice if nokia called it firmware to stop confusion!
i appreciate most people have heard of software but not firmware, but calling firmware software wont help anyone! (that was directed at nokia not anyone on here!)

Thanks
Come on Nokia... sort it out!

It will be added yes. All N series and E series phones are being added, and the latest firmware for the N80 has FOTA (firmware over the air) updates enabled as well.
Perhaps they are waiting for v.4 to be approved by all the networks before releasing it.

grimsby service centre told me they have v4 for all networks but 'three' (as in the network), three customer services told me they have v4 and to send them the phone and they will upgrade it, but i dont trust them and would like to wait untill someone else confirms they do have it!

Have you considered upgrading the FW yourself (or at a Nokia CS) to a Gereric V4?
As long as you write down your current Connection settings for WEB & MMS you should be able to re-enter them after the upgrade.
The generic FW is usually more stable than the Three customised ones.

An aquaintance of mine said new firmware for the N80 should be out in the next 6 weeks, but I am not sure where he got that info.

If it's true, I hope Nokia have finally fixed the memory loss when closing apps...
