applets java on P990i ???

4 replies · 7,939 views · Started 25 September 2006

Hello

I have a P910i with opera 6.32.
Applets java works perfectly in the browser.

With the P990i with opera 8.60,
applets java don't work at all.
A message saying : java is not available.

Well ? Does the P990i supports applets?

Why P910i supports applets and not P990i ?

Thanks to answer me !

What such a response !!!

So, explain me why applets don't load in P990 where P910i works perfectly ?

Is a firmware bug ? Thanks to answer me more than a simple 'yes'.

No clue. Don't have a P990.

Sony Ericsson web site ( http://developer.sonyericsson.com/site/global/products/phonegallery/p990/p_p990.jsp ) say that these Java technologies are supported on the P990:

Both CDC and CLDC environments supported:

JTWI 1.0 (JSR-185) consisting of Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) 1.1 HI (JSR-139), MIDP 2.0 (JSR-118), WMA 1.1 (JSR-120).
- PDA Optional Packages (JSR-75)
- Bluetooth™ (JSR-82)
- Wireless Messaging API 2.0 (JSR-205)
- Web Services (JSR-172)
- Mobile Media API (JSR-135)
- Mobile 3D Graphics (JSR-184) with hardware acceleration
- Nokia UI API 1.1

Connected Device Configuration (CDC) 1.0 (JSR-36)
- Foundation Profile 1.0 (JSR-46)
- Personal Profile 1.0 (JSR-62)
- PDA Optional Packages (JSR-75)

However, the browser in the P990 might not support Java applets, even if the version in the previous model might have.

Have you asked Sony Ericsson's customer support?

You phrased your question so beautifully that I couldn't resist, but to provide such an elaborate response as I did. Do we owe you an "explanation" on that too?
