N80 Problem: Showing Headset as attached?

4 replies · 2,494 views · Started 25 September 2006

Hi,

I have a UK Nokia N80 (3.0617.0.6 RM-92 Nokia N80 (33.01)), and yesterday it began showing that there is a headset attached to the phone? (On the top right there is a small picture of a headset).

The problem is that there is no headset (or any enhancement whatsoever) attached to the phone.

When I try to make or recieve a phone call I cannot hear the other party and vice versa.

Any ideas how I can fix this? I don't really want to do a hard reset!

Thanks

Might seem like a stupid idea, but try actually connecting a headset to the N80 (the one that comes in the box might do the job) once it's connected - check if you can hear the other person with the headset, then unplug it..

Well as I took it out my pocket to try it, the icon had dissapeared and the phone was functioning normally!!

I will keep an eye on it!!

Thanks for the reply

It is also a posibility that the phone got connected with your notebook!
It happened to me when I put my notebook to the auto-connect list. 😮

Just a thought! 😃

It's possible there's some damage (or even some grit, etc) shorting out 2 pins on the Pop-Port.

A similar fault appeared on an old 7650 I owned (with 2.5mm audio jack).
The only solution was a trip to a Nokia Service Centre for a new socket to be fitted.

Hope your problem is software related and not hardware...
