What we need is the SE M600 keybaord on the N95....now that would be a serious Smartphone
Nokia N95 - HSDPA, WiFi, 5MP Camera, GPS at 90cc
@jukkaeklund
Symbian devices have two types of memory: RAM and User. The latter is used to store apps and user data and former to run the OS and apps.
First preview: http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/review.php?reviewId=1815 - and the exaggerate of the punctuation😉
As stated in specs, it has about 160MB shared RAM for user, apps etc. What is the actual figure free for user depends on pre-installed apps etc.
Significantly more than N93 in any case.

Specs state that it has 160MB of "dynamic" memory, not RAM. What they mean by "dynamic" is probably just storage memory. As Jah said, in symbian RAM and storage memory have always been clearly separate memory, on 2 different chips and it's very unlikely that they sudently decided to modify the system to put everything in RAM.

You're right. Some feature or other seems to be missing in every Nokia phone. My 7710 looked perfect wen I bought, but It's lack of keypad(or QWERTY or number) is very annoying. I would'nt go for this N95 though, 'cos keypad is not the only input I would expect in a so called "Shrinked computer". I don't have the patience to navigate menus, webpages and documents in small increments using keys, I'd rather use my stylus(It's also fun to draw in pictures!). Hey does anybody here use PC without a mouse? Hope Nokia's innovation does'nt produce a 5G compatible Smartphone with 8GB memory, 10MP camera, sleek qwerty keyboard, 4D surround sound music, and forgets a visual inteface like "THE DISPLAY". I'm happy with the other improvements though.
Statement from Mobilereview here: http://mobile-review.com/articles/2006/nokia-openstudio-ny-en.shtml;
"The standard 950 mAh Li-Ion battery is the only one available for the model; therefore dont pay too much attention to the manufacturers statements on lifetime (they hold true only in case you own the device as a trinket) in reality, you will have 10-11 hours at best, and after that recharging is inevitable. Active users, who are into WiFi connectivity, web surfing (regardless of connection type), imaging and music will more likely end up having less than 7-8 hours of lifetime. And that appears to the handsets most crucial drawback it seemed to me that the N95 worked by 10-15 percent less than Nokia N80 running on firmware 17.":icon13:
The battery is not a problem, is the problem... If all that is true, N95 is almost useless:frown:
By the way, does the release of this phone spell the end for the N83, which looked to have identical specs?
I have to admit, I want the N95. However, it really would make it better if there was a 4GB or 8GB HD in there somewhere....

If you wanna talk about the solution to the keyboard, they could integrate a laser virtual keyboard into the top of the phone. However, the current models of the laser virtual keyboards are somewhat large. There was an article in popular science a couple months ago that was talking about a new way of making batteries by charging viruses. This would make the battery about the size of a sticker, greatly reducing the size of electronics. Unfortunately they were saying implementation of this technology will be another 10 years. Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll be sooner.
In fact there are some questions to ask:
* where are the released of the N94 and N74?
* was the N93 released with the franchise System Rush: Evolution? Because from the specs list of Nokia/nseries, the function is removed...
In my opinion, I will be a bit afraid to buy this phone because of several reasons and the most diabloic are: because the 5mp and gps are going to be experimental and aslo, who is going to give us the proof that the RAM is going to be an 'ordinary' one?
I dont believe the specs of Nokia's website anymore untill the product is released - lot of speeches and lots of ads and words for nothing... just to make you thirsty for technology...
Sigh... but i love Nokia 😊
Nokia has not announced any models named N94 or N74.
The N93 has a System Rush: Evolution demo. It is also available as a separate download:
http://europe.nokia.com/A4162311
What do you mean with 'ordinary' RAM?
In any case, when a new phone is announced, the specs should be quite accurate as by that time any and all hardware decisions have already been made & the manufacturer is confident it can also ship it.
N95 has great specs but ONE THING that comes to my mind is the stereo speakers which are either side of the screen in normal mode but when we view PICS or MOVIES (landscape mode) when stereo is MOST useful they situated at top and bottom instead of left and right. I think having such great specs like 3D graphics, 16million colours,2.6 inch screen it is dissappointment you cannot watch anything with stereo sound inspite of stereo speakers

You're coming out with a lot of negativity on this thread, nj7 - anyone would think you worked for a rival manufacturer that was annoyed and scared at how good the N95 is, or you're under the age of 17 😉
Your comments are really not realistic, and don't show much understanding of modern consumer electronics and battery life. The N95 is essentially a computer - it is doing a vast amount more than most average phones - and the processor is faster which uses more power too. The battery life is actually great for what the device is capable of doing - don't forget GPS sucks power also, and more importantly it's long enough to last a full day (at least) of heavy usage - which has been the wholly grail of laptop computers for years. So it's actually much better than a laptop computer.
The other key point is that most people go home at night, and plug their phones into recharge while they're asleep - most people only want to use their phones when they're awake, and everybody's got to sleep - and most people aren't constantly on the move and having to carry around a recharger with them. And even in a travelling situation, Nokia's rechargers are so small and light that it's not an issue anyway. So exactly why is the issue of battery life such a problem? The truth is, it's not, and your argument is false.
No, I dont work for a maker of phones neither Im under 17:frown: , but when You are in midlle of nowhere with a urgent problem, talk about GPS and other stuff...
All You need is Battery (I keep an 6310i because that - 18 days of battery) and possibility of making a call... in the end its all about that.
Im now with one N73, and like said Nokia, "what computers have become", I expecting not that... low RAM, Bluetooth problems, and reboots. My 2,5 years old HP, and is not a great one, doesnt have RAM limitations and Bluetooth problems and dont reboot 2-3 or 4 times a day.
So I expect more from a new portable "computer", at least more then 7-8h of work... because it also have to do calls..., and my HP dont. You got the point now?
Excellent - well done Nokia!
I purchased a N93 a couple of months ago after eagerly awaiting it for months and months. I was and am VERY happy with it - it was priceless as a video camera in a recent foray into the Himalayas. A superb bit of kit. And when my contract ends - I now know what I will be getting - the N95!
The N93 replaced my MP3 player, camera and PSP for my travels, and the only other gadget I had to retain was my Garmin GPS. Now I can get rid of that in a year!
My only changes to the N95 would be looks - it is not a patch on the looks of the N93 and does not do its specs justice. It is a shame that my next phone will look like the poor relation to my current one.
As for those that want a touchscreen - WHY?! In my experience it just leads to a damaged and dirty screen, and allows the maker to get away with a less 'finished' interface in regards to the buttons. Add this to reduced battery life and its a 'no thanks' from me.

The Nokia N95 looks like a killer phone.
However, 4 things that slightly bother me about it.
1. Slide might suffer wear & tear. (just a possibility.)
2. No Windows Mobile. (probably can live without)
3. No QWERTY keyboard.
4. No VGA. (can live without.)
If this phone didn't suffer from slide failure and had #2 - 4 added, then that would be the most perfect phone EVER. (Oh yeah is this thing touchscreen? If not, then that too.)
OMG I want one so bad I think I'm going to POP!!!
😊
You can see more info about this device here:
I don't know why but in the specs for the n95 I discovered that it doesn't have mms not a big huge deal but I do use it occassionally especially because I don't have 3g network coverage readily available to me where ever i go. But I would have liked to see it on the phone. It's handy to have and its there if I need it.
It have MMS - 300kb max size!
is it the same phone they start off talking bout the 93 then its the 95?
The N95 is going to be amazing! If your going to get one check out the N95 forums at n95users.com/forum
The Nokia N93 is for gays, small people abd people called RRRRRRRGGGGGGAAAAAAYYYYYY
the best phone i ve ever seen this phone is sick it is about n95
Is the picture format JPEG? I guess so, and when will other formats become availible, a RAW format would be TOPS!! ;0
I am using a PDA O2 at this moment. But kind of stuck with using stylus, but only to touch the virtual keyboard on the screen.
Is the N95 have similar functions ? I saw a "pencil" sign on the phoe. What is means ?
I also need to blast sms to many colleagus at times, like sending update info or instructions. Can the N95 (or symbian) allow to continue to insert name, into a list and send together on the same messages ?
