Contacts problem - SMS

Whenever I receive an SMS from somebody in my contacts list it always displays the last name first then the first name, even though my contacts are arranged first name last name......can't find a setting anywhere to chage this....any ideas?

In my opinion it's a bug. And very annoying too.

For example, if I send an SMS and attach a name from the address book it goes into the outbox and reports section as FIRSTNAME,LASTNAME however if reply to an SMS it goes into those sections as LASTNAME,FIRSTNAME. It's not consistent and very frustrating. It's clearly something someone should have noticed during testing and shouted it up to the software poeple, 'hey! FIRSTNAME, LASTNAME doesn't work outside of addressbook guys'.

I don't know if the new v2 firmware fixes this. I haven't heard from anyone about it but then I can't get v2 on my phone anyway as the updater is bugged and insists that there is not update available for my phone.

Whatever the QA manager at Nokia is being paid, it's not for quality assurance on the software they issue.
😡

A bug, in it's traditional definintion, can be defined as something that does not perform as the programmer intended. However if something does not perform logically according to the settings on the unit then this can be argued to be a bug too. When one sets the format for the addressbook as FIRSTNAME, LASTNAME then one would expect this to be the same whenever the addressbook is accessed. This is not so. It is therefore behaving in a way that does not seem logical or understandable to the user, therefore it could be argued to be a bug in the design, if not the program. Of course it may well be that the other apps are SUPPOSED to use the new format and don't. In this case it is a traditional bug.

Until Nokia address this in a statement we won't know. In the meantime it's bleeding annoying.
