OK first time poster here so please go easy on me, I did a search but didn't find the particular answers I am looking for so if I have missed something I appologise.
Anyway, I live in Japan and recently got an 804NK/N71 and as has been stated on various websites Vodafone here have locked it so it only runs Symbian Signed apps with no way in the application manager to change this.
This is very annoying and I want to get rid of it, so my simple question is, is it possible?
I don't know if updating/re-installing Symbian would solve it and don't know enough to try it just to see. Also would updating the firmware have any effect on it?
All I want to do is run some of the wonderful programs and games available and install my own themes but I can't, its like having an super-bike and having it restricted to 50cc.
Any help anyone could give would be gratefully received.
A firmware upgrade doesn´t result. A Nokia Software Updater tool, don´t do that, also. Nokia Service, no way. On theory, is possible, but only with unofficial upgrade, and on that case You lose the garantee and is not a so easy thing to do. You go need to live with that!

Are you sure it would solve my problem, but would it also cause more problems in the future ?
I'm not too bothered about the lack of insurance as I got the phone for free so if I break it its no big loss.

Hi all !
I am planning to buy Nokia N 71 . I came to know about this forum while searching for its features . I am little bit confused as I am not aware with its hidden feature.
Currently I am using nokia 6280, the issue with it was unable to download any rigntones, java games ( reason support only S series software ). So, I dont want the same thing to be happened with N71 that's why I little bit consious.
My question is that whether N71 supports Java games & animated or constent themes to be download or not.
Please help me out as I don't want to waste my money.
