Hello,
As the official landrush of .mobi started yesterday, will AAS be getting a .mobi domain for the mobile site?
I personally picked up www.mobilethemes.mobi to link to wap.mobilethemes.com before the cybersquatters did. 😎

Unfortunately it looks like you're too late...
allaboutsymbian.mobi has been registered by what appears to be a cybersquatter :frown:
Also, Mobile Themes's two main "competitors", mobile9 and zedge have had their .mobi domains cybersquatted... I'm really glad now that I snapped up my .mobi literally 30 minutes after registration began 😃
I'm pretty sure .mobi falls under the UDRP policy in any case, i'd just send a formal C&D letter to the registrant, if that doesn't work then UDRP would be the only other option.
What's the point of .mobi?
Domain names are technically identical to each other, why would someone want a .mobi address instead of a .com address?
http://pc.mtld.mobi/mobilenet/index.html describes reasons why they recommend that people get a .mobi.
In theory it might be a good idea, but in practise I think .mobi will just become another cyber squatter area. I'm not going to lose sleep over not having the .mobi

If you would like me to draft a C&D for you just ask, doesn't hurt to try 😊
Thanks - I may take you up on that.

I can recommend his C&D writing skills, he managed to secure a couple of typo-domains for me 😉
Ok, i'll try and catch up with you soon, i'll probably need some background information on the site etc.

It doesn't give any concrete reasons though, just oodles of meaningless hype, like we saw with the previous "revolutions" in domain names, .biz and .info.
Things like this: "Dotmobi provides the critical link between the mobile operator, Internet services and the users to make their mobile devices the Internet and communication tool of choice."
I don't think they do provide a critical link, I think they just provide domain names.
Another example: "dotMobi will revolutionise the use of the Internet on mobile devices."
How will it make any difference at all to the internet on mobile devices? Surely the only real difference it'll make is that people will have to type four letters (.mobi) instead of three (.com, .net, .org)?
