30 replies · 5,660 views · Started 08 December 2002

how can we produce high quality Nim's ? and i don't care how big the file would be.. and im willing to give up 2-3 mb of nim for about a min of nim... any ideas?

does there exist a *.mov player for the 9210??😃 tnx

Use multimedia convertor pro from forum.nokia.com

And use http://nokia.warlocks.be/NokiaNimSettings.htm
The nims themselves aren't online anymore (some can be found at www.n9210.co.uk)

THese are the best settings I've found. Use them. You'll get good results.
THe Braveheart clip and the big Nothign Else Matters clip looked fabulous.

Check a few topic back ... I don't have much time now. If you don't find I'll search it when I get home

You can produce them using the Multinmedia Pro convertor, available from nokia website if its still there or i'm sure one of the technical wizards on this site will provide a link, and like me you can convert top quality nim's (see n9210.co.uk) which will take anywhere upto 60MB for a 6 min nim.

I usually convert all of mine to about quality 3-4 from a 50mb mpg clip which creates a nim clip of about 6mb's in size the quality is more than good with maximum screen size of 128, this usually doubles the screen size to the maximum available, check out my clips on n9210.co.uk.

So the best settings for conversion are:
Screen size 128
Quality size 3-4
FPS 7.5

But these can vary depending on the type of clip your converting.

See the F1 clips on n9210.co.uk, these are mostly all quality 3-4 with screen size 128 and FPS 7.5. 😃 😃

And if you get a message saying that the clip may produce continous play back   adjust the screen size, or the clip will be totally rubbish with poor quality playback 😉 😉 .

Another word of advice, don't pay any attention to the converted movie when playing it in the Multimedia pro convertor, it doesn't show the true quality of the clip :x :x , you'll have to transfer it to 9210 (i) to know what quality the clip really is. 😃

I don't go under a 10fps limit 😛 I use a somewhat smaller screen but have a very nice 10fps 😊

http://users.pandora.be/WarLocks.Data/nokia/NokiaNimSettings.htm

WarLocks.be domain is down :s

Screensize: 248x168
Framerate: 12fps

how did u manage to make it 12fps>? 10fps is the maximum...

and how many key frames per second..(what is this for?/ what effect?)

screen size = displayed or compressed? what is the screen size of the 9210 that's viewable?

From my experience of converting 100's of clips, anything above 7.5 fps will cause continuous playback, I would rather prefer the largest screen size and adequate quality of about 3-4. 90% of my clips are F1 clips so a larger screen size is important to watch all the F1 cars race. 😉 😉

Just look at the F1 clips on n9210.co.uk, these show good quality picture size with the largest screen size and FPS of 7.5, the 9210i screen is small enough as it is, so go for the largest screen size.

But again the settings vary for the type of clip, its just upto you, what you think is best and what is your priority.

I don't know about what fps means, you'll have to ask someone like dazler who is a technical wizard about these things. All I know is that is slows down the pic speed so everything moves sloooooooooowly :x :x. For F1 clips this makes teh clip totally rubbish as the cars are shown in very slow motion  with some of the movements missing. 😮ops:

I never use over 7.5fps.

The compressed screen is surpposed to show the quality of clip when its converted, but it shows f**k all of what the clip will play like on your 9210, its a total waste of time, I once converted over 40+ clips when on holiday, they looked perfect in the compressed screen 😊 , but and when i got back and played them on 9210i they where total rubbish  :x , it pissed me off a great deal   :evil.

The effect of continous playback in my experience is that the clip is very slow and the images move very very sloooooooow   when played on 9210i.

Why those prats at  Nokia  never thought of showing what the clip will really look like on the 9210 when played in the Pro MMC, totally surprises me.

fps= Frames per second.
A television normally has about 25 fps
DVD 25/30fps.
everything between 12-15fps doesn't hurt the eye that much.
more is better
less =frames are viewable by naked eye

Of course more fps is better 😃 😃 , but I have yet to convert a clip into nim, which has over 7.5fps and largest screen size, because the continuous playback message appears   !

you are right 😊
You'll have to choose :s I go for a little smaller screen (gives a tiny black border around the screen about 4 pixels) and the 10fps 😊 Looks good on heavy clips like music and action vids

It is that tiny BLACK border that I am trying to avoid on all my clips, I don't think that you can have top quality 1-2 and large screen size combined because you will get some serious distortion when playing the clip.

Oh well let's just wait for the DGS plugin .... I saw it working ... quite good.
I should give them a ring and see what's happening.

What is this? A DGS plugin, is it a application to increase the quality of nim's?

UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM 😮 😮

I saw the demo:
full movie 1 hour and 18 minutes on 18mb
fps= 25 (the 9210 couldn't quite handle it so I'm guessing 20fps should work)
full available screen (not full screen, but the max vid screen ...)

Dazler, is the DGS plug in a bit of hardware or software?

Is it Nokia or 3rd party?

Any idea of likely cost?
