Poor battery life - Help.

My n70 has been fine since i bought it in July but just recently the battery has not been lasting for a day. Just general use, couple of 30 second calls and some texts, and the battery is dead by the end of the day. I don't really use any of the apps throughout the day, apart from occasionally using TomTom and I generally have the phone plugged into the car charger when doing that. At home, I might listen to the music player, but again, it will be plugged into the charger. There are no apps running in the background, no lairy themes and the backlight is set to half brightness with the backlight set to stay on for 10 seconds - all pretty standard stuff. I did use the updater, but made sure the phone was fully charged when I did so and when recharging from empty, it will take about 30-40 minutes to flash that the battery is full which seems rather quick to me.

Any ideas? or is it just a trip to the cpw to sort it? Also does anyone have any suggestions for an uprated battery that will not void the warrenty please???😊

See if You have some backgroud applications that drain battery. If is not the case, better change the battery, because it can be already flat. And, no problem with garantee, at least, if the new battery is a Nokia original accessorie.

As said in the original post - no apps running in the background. Would it be reasonable to expect at least a couple of days with normal use?

Hi Liam. Do you keep the phone plugged to the charger until it's charged, or even a long time after? If you do this, your battery will suffer so this may be the cause. The programs running in background are not wasting so much power, I keep around three or four on the background, listen to music at least 1 h/day, browsing, calls and it still survives two days. Try with anoter battery to see if the same thing happens. If it does... it may be some virus.

Hi, sometimes i might leave it plugged into the charger for a little while after but not very long, certainly not over night or anything like that...

Is a very new battery? Only after three or four charge cycles the battery donne the best value.

Did that happened all of a sudden? Try with another battery to see if it's the same. I think that 6230, 3100 are using the same BL-5C.

No, not a new battery, came with the phone but its life was alot better a couple of months ago. Invariably, it would last a couple of days at least.

Cpw have stuck a new battery in it today and told me to let the new battery flatten and then recharge it for about 6 hours. Can't get the battery to flatten now!!...Got tomtom and the music player both running but it is still on the 3 bars it was on when they put it in....

Hi guys. So its had a new battery and it is no better. Still having to charge it every day with little use. With a phonecalls during the day i am having to charge it on the way home. Not even getting 24 hours from it, most of that being on standby....

That's not OK. Use a task manager and see what's running in background, something happens. Do you have any apps which are automatically updating themselves on the internet? Maybe you got some virus, I don't know what to say, but just one day in standby... this is too short to be OK.

Another ideea: maybe the charger doesn't work like it should. Try with another charger or with battery charged in other phone.

Still got crappy battery life...really should take it back!...however.....

The lead on my charger snapped last night - got wrapped around the computer chair So I bought a new one today. Put my dead phone on charge at around 5.30-6pm and it is still charging, thats 4+ hours charging with 5 minutes of using the video camera inbetween and not signalled as being full yet. So does that make sense to you?...Can a duff charger, dictate when a battery is full even though it isn't...if you know what i mean?!...and is it normal for a new charger to charge a battery from dead for over 4 hours?!

It's perfectly normal. The charger included in the original case it's a travel charger, that's why the batterry was charged so fast. Let of guess, the cable snapped near the case? Have you made firmware upgrade to 5th? Because some batterry issues were discussed about this.

It was just a normal house charger that broke and there is no 5.xxxxx upgrade on O2 yet. We're still stuck on 3.xxxxx.

Right....believe i may of sorted this problem and just in case anyone else is having the same problem this is what was wrong.....i think!

I bought a cheapo cover from some far east ebay seller a few months ago, to stop the original one ending up in a mess. When I assembled it, the little camera button on the side of the phone didn't appear to release after pressing it so I believe that the button was depressed all this time draining battery power?...

does that make sense to anyone that would know better than me?

I was aware of the button prob but it never really bothered me so i didn't think about it but it crossed my mind yesterday, so I repaced the cover with the original one and recharged the battery...that was 24 hours ago. I've sent loads of texts and spent an hour or so listening to music and 24 hours later I have only lost one bar on the battery power whereas in the past, the battery would of been dead by now on just standby....
