I read somewhere that Nokia had tested the new keypad layout during the testing phase to see what people thought of it. It took a short whil eto get used to it but then functioned pretty much the same for texting etc. In their surveys, people on the whole came out neutral about it- ie, not good, not bad.
And whatever it's bad or good poinmts, when people see your phone sat on the pub table etc, it will make them look twice wont it ? Nokia 7650 ? Looks like any other boring phone.
Nokia 7650,boring? I dont think so,i fell in love when i first saw the device with the keypad closed.The 3650,nice device,lots of features,but the design,ugly.
Yeah yeah, everyone has his/her own opinion how the phone looks. I and other people think the 3650 looks better than the 7650. You and a other people think the opposite. So we can go on and on. :agrue:
i agree totally. i like the look of the 7650 when the keypad is closed. i don't like the slide down keypad though.
while the 3650 is a funny layout i like it. but at the end of the day it'll depend on how easy texting, etc is as to whether i buy on. www.carphonewarehouse.co.uk say it'll be january when they have them.
I'll agree with you on that one,but allso,there are unwriten standards for design.ex:Why does 90% of the male population consider Cindy Crawford beautiful and only 10% of them consider Whoopi Goldberg beautiful 😃 (a joke).I'm not talking about some hardcore phone fetish personas who will say that the 3650 has better looking exterior then the 7650.If you show those two devices to the general public,they will say😮h they are both huge,but the 7650 is nicer.Once again,i'm not talking about device features but exterior design.Why dont we make a poll and see which one wins?
One more thing.In which forum should we post the poll so that it would be fair?
i think it would be wrong at the moment given the 3650 hasn't been released.
it would be a bias poll - folk haven't had the chance to test it out - i may hate it once i see it!!!
i think the 7650 is going to win that poll. Most people dont like it because of the key pad and its size. That's what i hear all the time. But the 7650 is even bigger when the keypad is open 😮 I just think the 7650 looks boring.

But the classic phone keypad has broken with unwritten standards too. Anyone remembers the layout of calculators with their numberpad? Just compare with your cellphone (and don't try to tell me that you can't compare that, initially both were designed for number-input). I heard in one of our UI-lectures, that the current cellphone-keypad layout was chosen by AT&T for their connection-operators several decades ago and DESPITE some efficiency-tests and established keypad-designs. Additionally the 3650 somehow follows the classic design of old analogue phones (ever enjoyed watching some kiddies trying to tap the holes in one of those dialing-wheeles?).
The 7650 looks good cos' its got that serious techie executive look to it and that speaks volumes to me and my friends.
The 3650 is very nice and i like the original concept, but it looks too "toyish", like the t68i compared to the better looking t68.
But as you pointed out, we all have our opinions.
