What is the best mp3 player to date?

Just bought a N70 as spare phone other than my PPC phone.. But wonder if there is a good sounding third party software that plays mp3 that comes with an equaliser ( best if have ). Good for punchy bass with skinnable theme.. Any ideas?

I see so I just do some research on powermp3.. Is that any good? No doubt I use ogg player in my old SX1 which is very long ago and satisfied with quality but not enough punch..

Alon MP3 player has the best sound and a very good equalizer. It's not skinable, but I don't think that you will stare at the display while listening music 😉

I currently testing the Xsound.. But for now cannot properly test the quality as the stock headset is no good at good sounds.. Until I buy my music adaptor and fit in my Sony headset..

I felt the default player is the best one as I’ve tested with other players most of them took more battery that the default player. Another good feature of the default player I most like is, it will show the current playing song title in the stand by screen, you can control the volume of the player from the stand by screen itself. Of course I agree that there is a lack of Equalizer in the default player and some additional features too.

Where did you see this? On my N70 it's not like that, no matter what I do.

God damn it, my phone is doing many things, but this is not among them. Anyway, I'm using OggPlayer, but it would have been nice to see the title on standby screen.

Well, ive tested about 4 MP3 players, and in my opinion, Power MP3 1.01 is the best. The sound quality is great, it has an equaliser, but more to the point, comes with a bunch of presets, including a "Headphones" preset, which sounds fantastic.

The difference between on and off is staggering.

Its also very nice to look at ^^

Definatly worth giving it a try.

PM me for more info 😉

Heres a link (the screenies are out of date tho, its been updated since...) http://my-symbian.com/s60/software/applications.php?fldAuto=1546&faq=4

You need to have Active Standby on in order for the default Nokia music player to function on the standby screen. If you have the Active Standby disabled then the music player will not display in the standby screen.

Also, if you have network variant firmware such as Orange then the music player will never play on the standby screen due to the operator specific modifications such as the Home Screen.

S.

Tried the Xsound and sound quite ok but not to the mark.. Currently testing the latest cubix powermp3..but the bad thing is cannot play in the background and find it too soft in vol when plug my own headset..

this one here is off-topic a little bit, but i expect you'll forgive me that 😊 I'd like to ask, is Nokia N70 as good as SonyEricsson W800i, or W810i in mp3 playing...? I mean, which has better sound?

I will be grateful for your answer

thank you and sorry for the mistakes in my english, I'm Pole 😊

The W800i and W810i is not comparable with the likes of N70 as they are different entity.. The W series from SE is purely basic phone with simplified features but have focus on music playback and therefore no doubt they are top in terms of mp3 playback but the N70 is a smartphone thats does it all and strikes a perfect balance in multimedia and features.. Depends on what one needs, if one needs just a subsitute mp3 or music playback but needs quality feedback then the SE might suffice but not a good choice for one that needs everything that only a smartphone or PPC phones can do..

Anyway, the quality of the sound in the N70 is actually good, it has a good signal/noise ratio, the bass is pretty powerfull... I am satisfied with it, the sound is almost like in my Sony CD player.

I agreed that the stock music player in the standard N70 is not so shabby for being standard issue but the bass is not enough to rock me but nonetheless a good effort especially being paired with my EX71..

With the builtin player there's no bass 😃 but try the Power MP3 and you'll se a BIG difference
