E70 Number Pad Light Won't Turn Off

7 replies · 4,613 views · Started 03 October 2006

As it should, when I press any key in dark conditions, the number pad light illuminates. However, when I switch the phone off in dark conditions, the number pad illuminates and stays on, even after the phone has been switched off. The number pad light will stay on permanently.

The only way to avoid this problem is to switch the phone off in bright light, so that the number pad light will stay off.

Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

This is a known SW bug occurring in SW release dated 2006-05-15
(I think). I had the same problem, and after upgrading the SW
to 2006-05-30, it was solved.

You can now upgrade the SW yourself, see other post in this forum.
Latest SW date is 2006-08-31 (I think).

I don't think that bug had been squashed (or completely squashed), I have the 2006-05-30 firmware and have come across that problem a couple of times so far.

Ok, I cannot argue with that.

But it occurred ALWAYS with 2006-05-15 version on my E70, and I have
NEVER seen it with 2006-05-31 or 2006-08-31 version SW I am using now.

I would still suggest to try upgrade though...

Thanks very much for your help.

I see some comments on the various forums that the lates update (8-30-06) has created serious problems on some E70s. Is this as widespread as some make it out to be?

Once again, thanks.

I did read something about upgrade problems with E70 after having
upgraded my E70 to 31-08-06 (which is what I have, not 30-08-06).

My impression was however that the problems had been solved by then
(unsure if it was the upgrader utility or the application itself).

Anyway, I had no problems upgrading last week. (That is of course no
proof that there aren't any problems...)
