Google Maps!

WOW. Thats all i have to say....

I just read about it in the free software thread, and i installed it just cos i was bored, but WOW!

I was so impressed, to test it, i asked it to pick out a route from my Mums house to my Dads (just across town).

It picked it first time and very quickly, i zoomed into street level and i was off!

The REALLY neat feature is the step by step instuctions like "head west for 400yards"

Just press 3 to go to the next instruction.

The route is clearly drawn on the map (in my case as a solid purple line) and so is really easy to follow.

It really is the next best thing to GPS.

The only differences being that its no help if you dont know where you are (lol) and you have to tell it to manually progress from step to step.

Im very impressed and just wanted to encourage any of you who havnt tried it to do so.

Is better MGMaps. because have GPS navigation and is free. The real problem with that is data traffic, because is even more impressed...

You're right nj7, plus that, the Google maps are very old (at least 3 years ago) and I can tell you this from the pictures I've seen in the region where I live. Too bad that you can't save the maps so you can view them later.
