Custom Right Menu Textures
How do you save/convert color MBM's with Xnview?
Yes Truly nice program indeed..
Thanx.
But am I the only one, who only can make the .mbms in grayscale....
The colour options when I want to convert are ghosted away. ?
And still...Im doing them in 4 bit 16 Colours..
is it possible to tweak them up to 24bit..
The wise man LFO (wonder if he really is so Low Frequency..he he) once wrote
<TABLE BORDER=0 ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=85%><TR><TD><font size=-1>Quote</font><HR></TD></TR><TR><TD><FONT SIZE=-1><BLOCKQUOTE>
c24 stays for the resolution, c16 stands for 16bit, c24 for 24bit (looks best, i think
</BLOCKQUOTE></FONT></TD></TR><TR><TD><HR></TD></TR></TABLE>
Thats cool...But...
Hmmm....
Well mine looks like this
loony.mbm
/c16kujon.bmp
/c16world.bmp
/c16print.bmp
/c16wave.bmp
/c16eye.bmp
But as I said im doing them in 4 bit.. so according to everything it shold say c4/ ?
Anyways...Ill experiment with different 24 bit versions.
But a pointer from the masters in here would be nice ![]()
Oh...Almost forgot....Is it true that you have to have a fifth file in there to get all 4...Otherwise my machine only converts the first 3...Strange.
Many smiles.....

Well, it's much easier to make color mbmfiles on a psion using MBMView. So i make them this way.
Jan
XNview does not support colour mbm files (or t least not their creation), hence I didn;t mentioned it earlier. As I think I said the eastiest way to create mbms is on a Psion!
I have had a quick looks through the docs re the colour issue
Quote from docs
/bpp -
Specifies the number of bits per pixel to be used for each converted bitmap (bmp-file) and whether the converted bitmap should be colour or gray-scale. The default is 2 bits per pixel. The options are /1, /2, /4, /8, /c4, /c8, /c12, /c16 or /c24.
So basically c24 is the highest. I guess the thing to check might be your source image.
From the command line you can use bmpconv so
bmconv /hbmexmpl.h bmexmpl.mbm /4smiley.bmp /1hangman.bmp /c16abstract.bmp
The following command line creates the multi-bitmap file bmexmpl.mbm, and adds to it the 4 bit grey-scale windows bitmap smiley.bmp, the 1 bit grey-scale windows bitmap hangman.bmp and the 16 colour windows bitmap abstract.bmp.
Interestingly
The /hbmexmpl.h option in the command line causes the Bitmap Converter to create a C++ header file (bmexmpl.h). The header file contains an enumeration for the multibitmap, so that EPOC applications can access its stored bitmaps.

<B>Now thats what I call some usefull information</B>
You should write an appendix to the 92xx Manual.
Thanx alot Rafe
What a pal...
he he...If I was in Sussex the beers where on me ![]()
Maybe we can ask Lieuwe De Vries to port MBMVieuw to ER6. What do you think?
<B>FUQ me</B> ![]()
I fucqed up my 9210...*crying*
Well...I fiddeled with the 24 bit bmp for the panels and all...Made a new "Theme".
Really cool actually..Took some photoshop pics and made them 596*200.
Chopped it up in on part 130*200 bmp for the CBA.And the wall part in 462*200. jpg.
so in the end you would have one large image on the desk....Cool ![]()
OK I compile my CBAs the old way and copyed the display.mbm to csystemdata as I have done 4 times before..
Ripps the battery off....AND......
<B>NOTHING</B>
Everything is completely dead..Even the Phone side wont respond to a gentle push at the power button......
This is a nightmare.....But the main question is ....Did I fuq up ??
I smells like a new complete flash of the phone..
Please help.....
And I know I should have stuck to 4 Bit...
Learning by doing.. ![]()
Oh....Just saw <TABLE BORDER=0 ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=85%><TR><TD><font size=-1>Quote</font><HR></TD></TR><TR><TD><FONT SIZE=-1><BLOCKQUOTE>Maybe we can ask Lieuwe De Vries to port MBMVieuw to ER6. What do you think?</BLOCKQUOTE></FONT></TD></TR><TR><TD><HR></TD></TR></TABLE>

you tried ctrl+shift+i on reboot, Looney?
Btw do you mean what 'flashing' is? it's putting a rom on your machine so this is not necessary now
))))))
We should have a chat-client here! ![]()
Jan
Some dead phones have waked when you put charger plug to phone and reboot.
sometimes it helps when you shortcut battery connectors (sucks everything to zero) and then put battery back.
But i think you have to flash it again in nokia service point... for warranty of course.
Wich sw version you use, Looney?
<B> Guys... I simply Love you </B>
The trick was.....<TABLE BORDER=0 ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=85%><TR><TD><font size=-1>Quote</font><HR></TD></TR><TR><TD><FONT SIZE=-1><BLOCKQUOTE>Some dead phones have waked when you put charger plug to phone and reboot</BLOCKQUOTE></FONT></TD></TR><TR><TD><HR></TD></TR></TABLE>
PHEWW..What a schock..
What is the reason for such a strange behavior?
Im still on the old 3.18 (with the buggy calender) because here in Denmark someone forgot to slip a dongle to the Nokia Service Center. But I called them today and they justy got it..So monday or wedensday im on the 3.77( If its released).Otherwise just the 3.5x. ![]()
Flash...Yes.I had the worst thougts about my baby needed a complete service rundown..Formating the entire machine..
But ofcoures not with you nice guys in here. ![]()

There could be one bit upside down.. ![]()
Even new, just taken from sales pack, have done that.. i think you have 3.18??
some 3.54 have done that also but not so many as 3.18..
There is no clear reason why it does that, but let's see what they have done in new firmware ![]()
Glad to hear it fixed Loony. This thread is just too quick. I leave it for an hour and it just grows. I hear you about the chat client. I'll start investigating. (Along with packing for Uni, moving to a new server - dont worry you shouldn't notice anything when the time comes)..
Reason for crash Maybe it is expecting files / mbms with only a certain number of colour in it? I know that for example certain icons on the old Psion5 could only be four different grayscale colours? Perhaps something similar here?

<B>GUYS</B>
This is great...
I did it...After a minor heart attack..he he.
Im sorry I cant show a emulator screenshot.I have not been able to get it up there yet..BUT..
Look...My new desk looks kinda like this ..
With the wallpaper to the right and the .mbm to the left...UNITY.. ![]()

<B>BUT</B>.Before you proceed.
PLEASE make a backup of your original display.mbm, located in the csystemdata....
Witch, is also where you drop the new display.mbm file, in case you just dropped in ![]()
The Wallpaper goes anywhere where you normaly stash you papers..
I owe you all BIG time.....This had never happend without you.

Loony - Nice one - they look great.
and the website is great too - thanks for the mention. I'll add you to the links section ASAP. Would you rather I point people at your page rather than downloading via this site (perhaps from this site + a link to yours.
Rafe
Rafe..Thanx ![]()
Im throwing skin packs out like a machine at the moment. And they all go straight to the my own little free space witch comes with my ADSL.But some decent download would be nice...And they only excist because of this Forum, so they are kinda yours to do with as you please.
Lets say you take all you want and just link to the original source with a tiny font size 1 link. ![]()
Im just happy it got my custom textures after a long struggle.
One thing puzzels me thoug..I cant seem to get a seemles weld between the Menu texture and the Wallpaper..It seems like the system wants to draw a shadow between the two...Is that so.??
I tryed ALL resolutions but no matter what..IT`S THERE..
We are only talking about 2 pixels or so...But It would be perfect to have it seamless..
Ohh..Pack 2 is already there.

It is not commercial! I though I explained it clear enough. Many people offered support for My-Communicator.com. I have no other possibility to receive donations, since money transfers to Polish banks are very expensive. This way people can donate the site and also get something in exchange. It is DONATION first of all - and the textures are only a gift and "thank you". It's all written on my page. Please, read.
Hi Michael,
I fully understand your point! I find this a very original way to get support for your site, and btw you don't force nobody to buy it. Who made a problem of this?
Regards,
Jan
woah ...this skins are still amanzing ... ![]()
Loony - I think that the Nokia adds the shading to contrast between the CBA and the background deliberately. I think it is automatically added to all the CBA backgrounds. You can see it in most screenshots. Normally its not as noticeabale because the existing skins aren't like your seamless ones.
Rafe
That the same conclusion I ended up with..
Just to bad..But It still looks sooooo nice with unifyed wallpaper and menu texture.
Despite the little shadow. ![]()
Hi All !
You guys have been busy here ![]()
Nice themes Loony! Keep going... when we see ER6 theme in our communicators? ![]()

First of all it's soo stupid of Nokia to hard code the Textures names, and the quantity of it in Display Settings, and since the 9210 uses alot of mbm shouldn't the Image viewer has the option to save as mbm ??

Wow....I was in loonyworld before reading all this and I have to say you've done a splendid job. First rate. Keep it up and thanks (big smile!!)
I managed to convert the bmps to mbm, but when I restarted the image in the right side appeard "blurred" (I think it writes like this) as if the image was to short or to big... but the size is the same as the original pic.. even when I reduce it happens the same..
anyhelp would be great
