On the N80 forum there is a discution regrding DivX Player. The program is freeware so here's the link:

Works really good, A/V sync is OK, it looks like a clone of SmartMovie. Try it.

Ratza, is that link correct - I get a remote server error? :con?
Yes it is, that's where I've downloaded the app. Try again, or in your mobile browser, the page is in xHTML format. The app has 804 kB.

Is that any good from smart movie? Think still the best out there in terms in quality video and audio whats more it also include a convertor which makes it a breeze to use.
With SUPER and Real Player is enouth. On small screen is enouth!
Only the PC app is missing. The features are pretty the same, but this is free.
maybe we can use the free pocket divx encoder, it is also made to convert for smaller mobile phone screens
I use that app for my Pocket PC
UPDATE
just installed the app, it works good but SmartMovie is better, I used the same files on my MMC that I watch with SmartMovie aswell and the audio quality is a lot worse then SmartMovie.
Also SmartMovie is in a lot of languages and you got the option in the Divxplayer but you can't change it, the only things you can change are the audio and subtitle language.
I use SmartMovie 2.76
It's a nice start, if you have no experience with SmartMovie you'll love it, and ofcourse its free
Even though DivX Player is not distributed with PC applications, there are some free ones out there, e.g. Media Coder or SUPER.
You can visit my blog to find out how to convert your video for DivX Player, http://www.s60tips.com/2006/09/30/converting-your-movies-for-divx-player-for-s60/. The quality is comparable to SmartMovie (IMHO).
I am using DivX Player only when I want to see a movie with subtitles, otherwise I am using TCPMP (alot smoother, faster and with more codecs).
On my PDA I use TCPMP aswell but I didn't know there was a symbian version available aswell.
About that divx player, I found how to get rid of the noisy splash screen when you open the app.
In FExplorer go to: System\Apps\DivXPlayer\Splash\ in here you cut the avi file and paste it for explample in the Demos folder or some where else.
So next time you start up DivXplayer it opens directly and silently.
Does somebody already find out how to change the language? I can only choose english
