How to seperate sms/ringtones from music player

Anyone know how to exclude ringtones/sms tones from appearing on the music player list, gets bit annoying when you want to listen to all your songs and loud sms ringtones are on the playlist by default.

You mean the built-in music player? I didnt have any problem with that. The deafult playlist consist only of my mp3's. Iam putting mp3 on a miniSD card.

I believe you have your mp3's in the phones memory?
If not, try to make a seperate folder, or create another playlist.

I started a thread about this a while ago and got no helpful responses really (http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/50570/). I couldnt find a way around it. I am surprised more people arent having this problem. I keep my msg/ringtones in a different folder on my mem card to my music, but they still show up in the Music Player library. At least they used to, of course that was back in the days when my Music Library actually worked (see this thread - http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/47981/), so I would welcome this problem back with open arms. Haha.

daihiep - If your msg/ringtones are MP3s as well, then they will show up in the library, that is what Somuchpain is referring to. He wants to know how to stop it, as do I.

anyone tried using hidden folders? -works for the images (ie to stop tomtom pois showing in gallery) Ive not tried as Ive not really got many mp3s on the phone yet.

Can you explain a bit more about hidden folders and how I need to alter the setting.

Cheers

yo can make a folder hidden using the progrma ybrowser (do a search) or via your pc when the phone is in mass storage device mode -go to the folder right click-properties-hidden (if you then change your folder options in windows you can see it but it is 50% see thru), i did that to my tomtom maps folder, tomtom still saw it but the gallery didnt (not my finding), dont know if it will work for the sounds but worth a try (sorry i dont have time right now)

Thanks for the advice sm1thson. I will give it a try, as soon as I get my Music Player/Library up and running the way it should be again. It's really struggling at the moment.
Stay tuned...

At the very least, I will do what you have done with the pictures/gallery. I have heaps of images files from various programs showing up in my picture gallery (Bemused for one), and it really is quite annoying. So which folder should I hide? The programs folder itself? Or just the folder where the images for the programs are stored?

Thank-you!

just where the images are stored and i deleted the folders that the phone makes with thumbnails in (this will be inside the folder with images), theres some other jigery pokery that needs doing to clear them fully out of the gallery as it seams to cache pictures, see this topic for a guide
