Hi,
I had a power outage (plus a couple of times it went on/off within a second or 2) the other night.
Didnt think anything of it and in the morning I unplugged my phone from the charger and took it to work. Then i noticed it had only 1 bar of battery even though it had been on charge all night (the power cut lasted about an hour in total) which i thought was very odd.
After this weekend, which i didnt really use the phone for anything other than a few short calls and a couple of text, i again brought it into work after a full nights charge with the battery showing a full charge.
Just listened to some music for about 70 minutes and the battery has now dropped to 2 bars! Previously i had listened to music for about 7-8 hours and might of lost a bar or 2 maximum.
Do you think my battery or charger (or both!) has been damaged by the power cut?
EDIT
I'm on contract with O2, does anyone know if the battery and/or charger is covered for replacement with them?
It maybe that the battery is confused. Sorry about the vagueness but I don't know how else to describe it.
I used to get this on my laptop if I'd taken it on and off charge a few times and put it in standby.
Try resetting the phone and then use it till the phone switches itself off. Then turn it back on and see if it'll let you use it some more. Then stick it on to charge the whole night. With any luck that'll knock the battery back to it's old self.
The power cut cant damage the battery or the charger. Both have a power protection. Do a 2 - 3 times full charge - empty and is normal.
Well i charged it from another (borrowed) Nokia charger (with the adapter for large pin to small pin) and it seemed to be back to its normal self.... 3 1/2 hours of MP3 and it had lost 1 bar.
Used it for about 3 hours on WiFi and this eventually discharged the battery completely (wouldnt turn back on).
I'm now trying my charger again and will leave it on overnight and see how it fares tomorrow with the MP3 playing! 😉
At least it confirms the battery is ok, if it discharges quickly when listening to my MP3's tomorrow it must be my standard charger!
What "larger" pin type of Nokia chargers can i use? they seem to vary in voltage and mA output ratings compared to my stock small pin charger.
See on Nokia Site wich ones are compatible.
While we're on this topic, I have 2 batteries, one of which lasts half as long as the other battery. Exact same models and everything. Anybody recommend something I can do to bring the battery life of the dud up to par?
Try a 2-3 times cycles of full charge - empty battery.
