hey ive just bought a new 9210, & have my old contacts backup on my computer, how can i update my new phone with my contacts i had on my old phone? please help. im feeling helpless without all my contacts....especially the women's User posted image

thanks

Simply copy the contacts.cdb from your backup onto the MMC, and contacts should find it. If not make a new contacts database and point it at the file you have copied. Then copy all the contacts to your normal database and remove the one from the MMC.

Instant contact database ressurection.

Thanks,i did that, it worked but the contacts are on the MMC now.
thants ok
thanks , now i'll just copy it to the phone & voila its all back to narmal..
thanks

i have a contacts.cdb on my phone(not on the mmc),when i try & delete it, it says it's in use & it does not delete it. how do i delete, cause i want to put in another one which had some additions in it.

thanks

you can't remove the one on the Communicator, but you can copy contacts from the database on the MMC to the Communicator then delete the copy on the MMC. Stupid I know, but it's the only way it works.

Using the restore facility on PC Suite will let you restore you old contacts.cdb over the one on the 9210.

So you are telling me all this time I've been using the long way round restoring my calender and contacts needlessly?

Hang on, it's not needless, I remember it's because PC Suite refuses to work properly for me.

BTW, what have I to do to copy contacts.cbd on my PC? Whenever I try to copy and paste it on my PC, I see the message "The file is in use". (And the app Contacts is closed).

Thanks!

Don't forget you need to close all apps that might use contacts before it will stop being in use, i.e
Contacts
Telephone
E-mail/Messaging

well i got fed up of trying, & it was time to upgrade to 4.13, so finally i did. then i came home & copied my old phones contacts.cdb into my MMC & then selected all the contacts & then "copied to" the phone contacts & it worked perfectly, then i deleted the MMC contacts & it works fine.
the restore does not work, it only works if you have backed up your contacts earlier from the same phone, I had a slightly different problem, i had a back up of my contacts of my old phone (i have just bought a new phone a few days back) & i needed to copy my old contacts onto my new phone.....Hmmmmm makes you wonder did Nokia think of being able to restore a contacts database onto multiple phones???
Well what can i say i'm happy with the 4.13 so far, if i have any problems, will keep u all posted.

ciao
