PC Suite Backup Error Message

11 replies · 2,880 views · Started 09 December 2002

Whenever I did a backup using PC Suite with 7650,
I will always get this Error Message.

"App. closed
AppArcServerTh
read
BackupSrv 0 "

Any idea what this message means although the backup was a success.

I have yet to use the Restore feature.

Not sure will it actually restore my phone when it really needs it.

Thanks.

I get the same thing now, at first all was well (for about a month) then all of a sudden it will not work.

I am going to try to fix the problem by deleting my old backup and creating a fresh one. I'll let you all know how I get on.

:-?

It worked!!! 😃

If anyone else gets this message:

1. Close PCSuite
2. Find where your old backup is stored (on PC usually in C:\nokia\<device name>😉 and delete (or rename the backup folder if you feel more confortable doing it).
3. Restart PCSuite and choose backup

The should now backup correctly with no errors.

Hope this helps

Cool... Thanks.

I get it. By removing the old backup, the error message will not appear anymore.

Think of it. Its kinda of stupid to show these error messages. Nokia never be bothered to fix these bugs.

Its poor programming really.

Anyway thanks to you guys for these findings.

I do have a strange error msg once.. during backing process, when the PC Suite come to backing up this file, cdbv2.dat. It's say that sharing violation, which it's seem to me .... doesn't make sense!

i HAVE to close all my appl running in the background, SeleQ, Log, etc. Sometime i have to reboot my phone, then it's ok.

Strange............... 😮

To me it could be one of a couple of problems, either:

1. Something on your PC alreadt has the file in the backup folder open, hence it cannot overwrite it

or

2. An application on your 7650 may be writing to the file and hence it cannot be copied

The way you got around the problem is exactly what I would have suggested. When performing any backup I recommend closing all non essential applications as these will ensure files are not held open.

If the above does not work ever, restart both devices as this should clear any file locks.

Last resort on the PC, delete the old backup and try again, this could solve the problem if their has been any file corruption.

Hope this helps.

Even I have a strange problem with PC Suite. First time I load it, the program opens and back up the phone fine. After a day or so that the computer has been on, when I try to open the PC Suite, I just see the splash screen and then nothing happens.

Really Strange. I have to restart the comp. in order to get it to work again.

I have a problem too, I managed to backup my phone once! After that whenever I try to backup it shows up the closing programs window and does noting until I decide to close PC Suite! Cant be bothered really!

It took me, 15 days to get my irda usb thing to work, I'm tooooo scared to touch anything now

Don't blame you, I was lucky, work laptop, IRDA port has worked for previous phones, worked first time for 7650.

After a bit of tinkering with COM port settings PCSuite picked up device no problems. Only issue I had was trying out a second 7650 for demo and fault finding. I had to mess about to get original working again.

Cannot guarantee, but I reacon that so long as your IRDA works now uninstalling and reinstalling PCSuite should not affect your port settings.
