USB safe to disconnect

When disconnecting devices attached to a USB port on my PC I'd always been used to going to the "make sure it's safe to disconnect" option before actually pulling the plug.

If I have my E61 connected to the PC in PC Suite mode, there's no such option, so am I right to assume that in PC Suite mode it's always safe to pull the plug out?

I always assumed that this was the case. Obviously if you disconnect the cable while PC suite is transfering files, that won't be that good for the phone but otherwise it's OK i guess. Actually, if you connect the phone as a USB drive and disconnect it without unmounting it properly on the PC, the phone will display a warning message saying that some files might have been lost. There is no such message when the phone is disconnected after having been connected in PC suite mode.

That's what makes me wonder if the PC Suite mode has some sort of protection that the File Transfer mode doesn't have. Surely they wouldn't have removed the "remove safely" option otherwise?
