7650 not receiving calls

Hi

Have noticed that my phone is frequently (several times a week) not capable of making / receiving calls - the cure appears to be switching off and on again.

Is this likely to be a software issue that could be resolved by upgrading the software or is it something else? If you get the software reflashed does this wipe out the phonebook (I preume so)?

Thanks

Does this happen after you get disconnected from the network?

I've heard someone telling that they had problems reconnecting to the network after getting disconnected.

KevB,
the problem i have.. wonder if anyone else has the same - but when i'm already in a phone call.. when there is a phone call coming in (call waiting) whenever i switch to the other call, the phone just fades white.. and blanks out - then resets by itself!!!!!

very irritating.

This has nothing to do with the network (as far as I know). It is just that when I try and dial it just does not attempt to connect, and likewise people tell me they have been trying to call me for ages and I realise that the phone has not been reachable.

I am hoping that this is just a software bug and it can be fixed that way.

This is probably due to cell change. The 7650 has some bugs with registering on a new cell! For example if you travel from a point to another, you change cells too. When leaving one cell you unregister from it and register to another and here is where the problem occurs.

When you reflash the phone everything is wiped out! However, you can backup your data first, or if the NSC is good they can backup the data for you! NOTE: Java Applications are not backed up!

I have exactly the same problem, Phones4u have just given me a new handset, which of course I'm grateful for but I doubt that the problem was with the hardware. I'm going to monitor the situation with the new handset but I think the real solution will be to get it flashed with a newer firmware version. I'm currently on 3.16.
