I just got the E62 from Cingular & have run into an issue with email attachments. Here's the example:
- You forward (not send) an email from AOL to a regular POP3 account:
Forward mail from to
- You try to retrieve it on the E62
- The forwarded email comes as an attachment.
- If you open the attachment, the Symbian OS gives an "Unknown error" and does a soft reset of the phone & in the process disables the email button on the unit. This can only be re-enabled by turning off & on the phone.
The problem occurs because the attached file doesn't have any kind of a file type associated with it. .doc, .ppt, .pdf, etc. files all work fine.
I did quite a bit of troubleshooting with Cingular on this; they even indicated that this could be hardware problem. A new unit exhibited the same behavior.
I had the Cingular rep on the phone with the Nokia rep; the conclusion is that this is a severe bug & nothing can be done about it.
Anyone have any ideas on how to address this problem?
