Got my TomTom Navigator DVD today (Maps of Western Europe) and had a lot of trouble to find out how to install it on the phone (the Nokia installer doesn't work).
Then I attached the phone via USB but TomTom Home doesn't recognize the phone.
Finally I figured out that I had to attach only the miniSD via USB to the computer and install directly on the card.
Unfortunately something went wrong and all the data (including the directories with pictures and sounds) was corrupted and destroyed.
I tried several times (everytime with the D/A/CH map) same result.
Finally I used a different map (Canary Islands) and it worked. I tried it again with the D/A/CH map and all was destroyed again. The German map works, the France and the big overall map don't work (didn't test the others so far).
Has somebody made the same experiences? I can't imagine that just my DVD should have some corrupt data.
Thanks
Harald
I ordered the DVD just before I saw your thread! It is due to arrive tomorrow so will let you know how I get on.
While I wait for this, can you let me know the size of the installed software and GB map? I have now been told that the miniSD card I ordered might not arrive tomorrow and wondering if there is any chance the basic stuff will fit on the 128MB card I already have.
You would think this information would be on their website ut can't find anything 🙄
Thanks
Dave
The software itself is small (about 4MB) but the maps are huge. The whole "maps of western europe" are over 900MB. Most single country maps are 200MB+
The Great Britain is 103 MB without the major roads of western europe. This should work on a 128MB card if you haven't anything else on it.
After the installation you can make a backup with TomTom Home and restore the backup later to a new card.

Thanks for the info Harald. While browsing other forums for information on TT6, I did see the following:

Sounds like it might be a different problem to the problem you are having but posted just in case.
Thanks for the link. Yes, it's different but it sounds familiar in the way that it seems to be a problem with the decompression of the maps of the TT Home installer. Seems like this happens only on some PC's.
Unfortunately I don't have a different PC available to test the issue.
So maybe you are lucky and can install without bigger problems 😉
It's too bad ... I really like the TT software. But it starts to get really frustrating :frown:

Problem solved. It wasn't TT's fault ... it was either my cardreader or the jacket for the miniSD.
It's weired as the cardreader works fine regading copying, formatting etc. but has problems with the TT installation (seems the issue was the size of the maps).
I bought a new cardreader (that handles miniSD directly) and everything works fine (and even a little faster).

I managed to get TT working with the GB map at the weekend on the 128MB card.
I then backed up and restored on to the 2GB card when it arrived as you suggested (thanks for the tip) but now can't install the Western Europe map as I get the same problem as the in the link that i posted above and it fails to unpack the cab file :banghead:
Including the printer I have tried 3 different readers but none work. I think this is going to be a late night trying to figure out a workaround!
