hey guys next time would you mind bolding the updated parts?ive already read the review & to have to read it again is both time consuming & a pain
I only mentioned the updates for completeness.... 8-)
Essentially I was ripping out nearly all the mentions of memory errors and crashes, though I did put in the odd sentence or two here and there.
It would look very odd with mixed bold and normal type though!

Just done the update and it bricked my N93 I now have to take it to a service centre 😞
I followed the instructions, had a full battery and left it well alone, it got to about 2 thirds of the way through then told me it had disconnected. The software said take out battery and re insert it then switch on and try again. Update cant see the phone now and all i get is a white blank screen on the outside and nothing at all on the inside. 😞
You wonder which is worse for a manufacturer, release a product full of bugs so it's out on time or delay it and annoy the people waiting for it?
Paul: sorry to hear that. I admit I had a few nerves before setting mine to update, but it went very quickly (about 20 mins) and without a hitch. One trick (bit late for you, perhaps!) is to do it after a fresh boot of the PC, to make absolutely sure no errant programs try and interrupt the flashing process by stealing processor time. Or maybe someone tried to call your SIM halfway through?
I agree it's not ideal - after all how can you stop people trying to call you etc. Nokia should build putting the device into 'Offline' mode as part of the flashing procedure, IMHO.

Or just don't announce devices until they are nearly ready!
Nokia aren't quite so bad (although they too have their moments) but SonyEricsson and Motorola are well known for announcing devices, saying they will be ready in 3-6 months and then either releasing them over six months late or, in the case of Motoral, giving up completely.
