Transferring Mac address book to N71 using iSync

Hello from Cape Town

I just got my N71 yesterday. I want to transfer my Apple Mac laptop's address book (contacts) to the phone via Bluetooth, using iSync, which is part of Mac OS 10.4.8. When I first tried, iSync didn't see the phone at all. I downloaded the Mactomster iSync plug-in, and iSync then saw my phone.

Every time I try to sync the two, I get an error message that connection failed. Syncing works with other phones (e.g. Nokia 7370), so I think my technique is OK.

Is there a setting on the N71 which would allow this to work?

Any help would be appreciated.

The phone asks if it should accept a coonection from the computer. When I say yes, the phone says "System Error!", and the computer says " [NOKIA N71] Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.
Device "NOKIA N71" synchronization failed"

You can try to merge data instead of erase all data on the device on the first sync.

Hope this helps..

Thanks for the tip. I think you're right, that an empty Contacts file on the phone confuses iSync. I got mine to work by connecting to a PC, transferring address book, and thereafter it worked on the Mac.
