Anyone know if it's possible to hide files from the Gallery...?
I've tried various software (Y Browser/ Crypto etc), but I can't seem to prevent those files that you maybe don't want to see when flicking through the gallery from appearing.
Any tips would be great.
TIA
if its a case of the pictures being ones you have taken yourself but would rather not have others see them for whatever reason when flicking through the galery i'd recommend getting yourself a zip handling program and put the pics in a zip file (bit of an awkward way to do it but it does work, you can access the pics yourself via the file manager) if they are images that are needed for applications or something like that and cant be put in a zip file then i dont think theres much you can do other then put up with having to scroll through them every time
You can use a program called SmartCrypto to encrypt single files.
There are a few programs that can lock files like Advanced Mobile Locks.
This is really annoying... I have loads of images associated with TomTom (raster maps, poi's, voice images) and have to scroll through them every time I open the gallery 😞
This guy explains how to do this with an app called Y-Browser

(sorry, I cannot post a link!!! I've never seen such a ** rule...)

The method you refer to uses Y-Browser to set the file attributes to Hidden. You have to do this to every picture file individually and it's a royal pain in the a55.
As for the "No link posting till 10 posts" rule, you may thinks it's bad, but it sure as hell keeps spammers away. If you are going to be a worthwhile contributor to the forum, you'll soon have 10 posts and be able to link as much as you like.
It's not exactly life threatening, now is it 🙄
Using a memory card reader, copy the files into a hidden folder on the memory card.
They then don't appear in the gallery.
Use Resco Photo Viewer to browse the pics (Resco is better than the gallery).

No good for TomTom pics that need to reside in their own specific folder
how about changing the attribute of the tomtom folder to hidden? can you pls try it out?
When you transfer a picture to your phone, the gallery makes 3 different thumbnails of the image and puts them into /Images/_PAlbTN folder. It's hidden! Inside there are 3 more folders - "170x128", "320x240" and "56x42". If you delete a picture only from Images folder it will continue to apper in the gallery.
What you have to do is to delete it from those three folders. Then there is no more picture... 😊
And in the future if you want to have a picture that doesn't show in gallery just copy it to a hidden folder for example directly, not by sending it to the phone. In that case you will skip the part where you have to delete all thumbnails. Hope this helps 😉
