I've seen it on some posts around here and on other forums that there is a way to increase the speed of the processor. I was 100% convinced that it doesn't make any sense, but I decided to try and see what happens. So the "classic" Todo Speed & Quokie came into action after installing SPMark04, a nice 3D benchmark app for S60. It is pretty obvious that if the speed really increases, then the results should be better. On the background were FExplorer and PowerCall on both tests. So, watch the screen shots, I got...uhm..... uhm.... WOW! astonishing 1% speed improove, probably because I had more RAM after restart 😉
Once and for all: you cannot overclock the processor of your S60 device. Proved.
EDIT: Didn't realize that the pics don't have their names displayed.
The first two are taken before "overclock" and after one day from the last restart
The following two are after restart, during "overclock"
The last one displays some system information.
There's one app that works on the N-Gage "classic" (original, not QD) only & no others:

I really doubt that the frequency can be increased, because this is haveing a huge impact not only on speed of operation but also the clock, RF module and so on. What I think it happens is that the patch manages somehow to keep RAM free and get rid of all unnecessary background processes, or to allocate the most part of resources.
Well... it is possible to increase the CPU speed (at last with the SX1 and the N70), but it is not a simple procedure, and you can do it only with software.

QUTATION of a small part from that article, translated with a tool:
------- Results-----------
In the Siemens-SX1 the standard speed is 120 Mhz, and it is possible to put
any speed between 48 and 192 Mhz.
In the Nokia-N70 the standard speed belongs to 220 Mhz and me I have managed
to put it to 280 Mhz. Superior speeds cause that it becomes unstable.
It is also possible to lower the speed. This way battery is saved.
The only disadvantage is that the applications go but slowly. I force it normally to use at a low speed, and when I want to play or surfear,
I put it quick. Without abuse because I don't want to burn the mobile.
To mention that the voice communications and data are not altered
at all.

As you see, the world of the motives continues giving profitable fruits for
those that take a risk and they want to mess up.

It seems that the system becomes unstable at high speeds. I believe that the phones whith Symbian are tested at all the frequencies to see which the best both for operating speed and battery. Anyway, it's much more complex than the Speed/Quokie typed in Todo and the variant exposed above can work. The question is: would you risk your phone's integrity just for 10% improvement?
I agree the TODO hoax its been hanging around too much time, and Im afraid it will be also in the future...(my favourite: the X-Ray program to see all the girls naked).
Im sure Nokia make the system work at a lower speed by security reasons, to avoid problems and hangs up I mean, so I dont think its a risk to raise the clock a little if you can gain speed.
The most important thing about the article I referred, is that you can modify the running kernel to do this...so...what could be next? a custom firmware? home-made improvements? I would really like to know Nokia's opinion about it.

If only all of us we had the programming skills of the author of that article...🙄 Now that would be a nice and bug free OS but I don't think Nokia cares too much about it.:viking:

True:icon14: I try and really works. ONLY on N-Gage classic!
The frequency is increased or just the speed?
