7650 or p800 ????

25 replies · 4,213 views · Started 10 December 2002

hello i own a nokia7650 and im considering getting a p800 but i just wonna know if the p800 is much better than 7650

dont really know much about the p800 apart from the looks but i need a full spec software basicly what it can do compared to mine 😃

same here, I passed step one (gaining enough money, + reserve .. just in case 😉)

But now i'm questioning what to do with my money 😮
It was a P800 for sure before, but now i wan't a Maserati Coupe Cambricorsa! 😃
😃

I'm only about 80 000 dollars away!! :P

Okay okay, the p800 wins over:
Expandable memory (under line that, no you jack, not that, but that!---> EXPANDABLE MEMORY okay 😃 )
But honestly, space doubler made life pretty easier! now, imagine a compression software on a 128MB memory stick!!

A really good loudspeaker (judged by the review posted in this forum somewhere..)

big screen! And it being a touch screen too 😊

Sleeker looks

But the p800 lacks:
How the hell are we gonna play games?! I don't wanna use a stylus as a mouse! I need a joysticK!! Buttons!!

IMO

but you want the techie stuff, check this:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/P800/ Then go to facts and figures
Not that full, but i forgot where that other review was 😮
Alot of reviews around:
http://www.mobile-review.com/review/sonyericsson-p800-e.shtml
http://mobile.burn.com/review.jsp?Id=141

Many many more, just search around in this forum 😊

I've got a 7650 too, but I'm going to get technical with you here

Gimmie, Gimmie, Gimmie.......NOW!!!! (BAHHAHHAHAHA!!!!)

Understand? 😉

Other bad points about the the P800...
1. Imagine getting your mobile out in the pub, and having to use a stylus pen to use it properly!
2. Because of the amount of people who will be using the 7650's Symbian system and hardware (don't forget the 3650 next year) there will be a LOT more games and apps for the 7650!

Not to mention free dev tools that encourage the writting of these same progs.

The p800 is definitely more advanced then the 7650.Dont get me started.
Symbian 7,wow!! I'm definitely tempted by it.But,like Afonso said, free development tools, more apps, more games. The 7650 would've been nothing without the third party software vendors.

Of course I want the P800 to be a big success (because I plan to buy one) but secretly I hope someone (Motorola/Paragon2 ?) could teach SE a lesson about proprietary memory formats and free dev tools...
At least in the Marketing wars SE (and all the other manufacturers too) are taking a huge beating from Nokia.
I am just amased how Nokia seams to be ignoring BlueTooth completly in it's latest wave of models! Maybee too open a standart for Nokia?...

It has to do with the operators. Operators don't want customers to share their content. They wanna exploit the consumer by asking 3 pounds for a small James Bond - Die Another Day pic. They don't want people to be able to send that pic to other devices

Don't forget the N-gage 8) and Series 60 devices from other manufacturers 😃 😃 😃

This explains why Nokia is being so bluetooth shy and also reluctant to produce a long due 9XXX device with MMS + memory card + GPRS + BT + standart multimedia file format player.
It's the "As long as nobody else gives them that we are not going to volunteer neither" game.

I for once have sworn not to buy another electronic gadget, be it a watch, digital still camera, video camera, GPS, PDA, mobilephone, laptop, ... without built-in (or the possibility to add) Bluetooth support. I had enough of proprietary & incompatible cable connectors and peripherals.

Dude,
I` ve just sold my 7650!
The reason?
P800!
It has everything (memory rulzzz) and i always wanted a combination of a mobile phone and PDA...

but you know, there is very positive and fatual news that the 7650 is gonna have a memory upgrage...64mb to be exact......this would be via an expasion battery with BT support for easy MMC transfers.

Now thats gotta be more than enough to keep 7650 up there with the boys for a while to come.

its planned for release march-april 2003 by a third party developer.

so hang in there 😃

i won a 3650 with nokiagame this year (well i dont have it yet, but should get it as soon as it is out) but i am defenitly going to buy a p800, the 3650 just is too big and looks yuck.

P800 has a FREE UIQ SDK, just like 7650 (Series 60 SDK) does. Unfortunately, if you want to test your apps in the emulator, you need to buy CodeWarrior, but for Series 60 emulator testing you also need to get M$ Visual C++ which is a lot more expensive than CodeWarrior. So, in the end, P800 has a lot cheaper development tools than Series 60 devices do.

nokia 3650 has an sd slot. Memory stick duo 64MB or SD currently at 512MB?

oh yeah and dont forget that freaking ericsson flashing LED that drives nokia owners crazy! it'll flash day and night for ever and ever... someone at ericsson deserves a bullet for that idea.

You can remove that Flashy Flashy....Of course, if you want 2.

Regarding the :agrue: about phones, Each one is designed for something, for someone, for somethyng, for a time fashion.

How manny of you use 3 years old phones? (Excepting 9xxx users-Please note--that is a PHONE with big P)

So, will you talk this next year..nope I guess. I menat issues about That is better, That is not...

To point at something diferent, I did not liked nokia at the begining. I owned a lot of Ericsson Fancy phones until I realised that I cannot receive-send pictures, ringtones, animated imagesm bla, bla. So I switched to Nokia.

Tomorrow/ Who of you Knows?

Cheers

P.S. I will trick Santa to bring my wife`s a P800 so I canplay with both 😉

7650 if you want a phone, P800 if you want a PDA. Don't go buying the P800 only because you want a flashy phone with a camera. 7650 fits the bill better.

i heard that you couldn't turn the flashing LED off. You cant turn it off on the t68i.

Nice Avator! :P

Don`t bring your brick into this...

Hahaha. Nice one.

Anyhow, I meant yesterday that this is the time when we talk about todays phones, but this will not last forever..

We will all decide what to choose.

Can anyone post a picture with 7650 and P800 together?
