Hi,
I'm on my 2nd N80. the 1st one had a hardware fault with the secondary camera, I've just got this one out of the box and want to restore the data from my old one only to be greeted by a Unknown Device error.
If you go into device it shows up as an unknown device under the USB settings.
The wierd thing is the last one worked fine. no software has been changed.
Has anyone got any ideas on how I can get this working? As I can't find a XP N80 USB driver anywhere. 😡
Thanks in advance
I had a similar issue with my 2nd N80. When I first connected it, it was showing as 'Symbian Device' rather than 'N80' which the first one did.
Not a lot of help to you but it kinda just sorted itself out and shows up correctly now. Best I can suggest if yours doesn't do the same is uninstall the cable USB driver and reinstall so your computer can detect the phone again from scratch.
It happened on my N70. I solved it by uninstalling PC Suite and Nokia's driver from Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs instead of PC Suite's uninstall, rebooted and then installed back the PC Suite. After finishing the instalation I canceled the connectivity window and plugged the phone. I left it plugged until a bubble told me "Your hardware is installed and ready to use".
Thanks for that, I'll give that a go. O2 are all ready to send out another phone 😡
Really can't go through the hassle again.
