Problems backing up phone

Hi i have a problem with my n80, im away to update my firmware using the nokia software updater before doing this it recommends updating your phone. I have tried to do this using the backup option in pc suite but when it gets to about 3/4 of the way through it stops and says that another programme is using the pc suite???

Does anyone know a way around this?:con?

There's an option in the PC Suite sync settings to sync the phone at regular intervals when it's connected. If this tries to access the phone during the backup it will take priority and cause the backup to fail.

I had a look at the sync settings and it isnt that, i will just use the option on the phone instead, cheers 😊

No don't back it up onto your memory card, perservere with PC Suite. If you follow the instructions properly on the Nokia site you need to format your memory card before you do the firmware update, hence the need to use PC Suite for the backup. You also need the latest version of PC Suite to do the firmware update/backup which can be downloaded from the Nokia website.

If you follow the instructions properly and to the letter you will have no problems. If you backup your phone to the memory card you may find that you will be unable to restore it after you have done the firmware upgrade.

I'd agree with the above. For some reason, when I did a hard reset on mine restoring the backup from the memory card didn't restore all the settings.

Plus, if your phone is lost or stolen then chances are you'll have lost the backup with it if it's on the memory card.

What's your PC Suite version? I used to have the same problem before I updated it my current version (6.81.13.0)
