N73 Stuck In off line Mode

12 replies · 12,301 views · Started 26 October 2006

My N73's stuck in off line mode,i put it back on general and the phone re-boots then it' goes back to off line mode been doing this since last night and its still f****d

Any help would be appreciated.

The only thing I can think of is a *#7370# FULL phone format...
I reckon it'd work, seeing as the default profile for the phone is always General upon purchase...
But Back
Up
First =D

No mate that did'nt work,i did that about 5 times on friday before i took it a Nokia service centre.
They've sent it away as they said it sounds like a hardware problem which flashing would'nt fix.
Gotta wait 14-28 days now😮

I had this problem with my 1st N73. Worked fine for 2 days, I swapped sim cards and the phone remained offline and would restart if i tried to bring in online. It was replaced. Hope you have not bought any software for yours yet

i had the same problem before. here is my solution to bring the phone back to online mode. and it also work with some other people N73.

1. Backup all ur thing using the PC Suite.
2. Take out the sim card, battery and the memory card as well.
3. Leave your phone for around 1 day without power up. (i.e. just leave it there after the battery had took out.)
4. After that, put back the battery, sim card. turn on the phone and let it go under offline mode. perform *#7780# then *#7370# (both operation will restart the phone then format and restore to the manufacture condition). after the phone being formatted, it will restart itself, now choose the online mode.

and here you go, the phone back to online mode again.
hope this will work on you n73.

p/s: from there on, i never put my phone into offline mode anymore =P

if it work, please let me know.

good luck in trying =)

no need to do all that... it will only take less than a minute to do via phoenix .. connect your phone and run phoenix, change the phone mode to local then back to normal and viola all works... no need to format or do anything else.. happened to me many times....

cheers

sweet....this way much better. thank for telling us about this method. or else most of the thing will be gone by using my method.
by the way, where can i get this "phoenix"? is a freeware?
thanks again =)

Phoenix is a phone diagnostic/flashing box that costs around 200 British Pounds, I'm AFAIK...

Hi Mr G

I had this problem too but managed to fix it mainly by accident I think.

I took delivery of my new phone, put my old SIM in it since the new SIM isn't activated for 7 days (grrrr). I think I chose work in offline mode when it booted up, not really knowing what it meant at that stage. After that it wouldn't go into any online mode for the whole day. I took it to 2 Orange shops and neither of them could get it working with my SIM or a valid 3G SIM.

As a last resort I deleted all settings I could using the menu item Settings/Phone/General/Orig.phone settings; (I didn't know about the special codes that you guys mentioned), powered down, removed battery, removed SIM card, powered back up without the SIM card fitted, powered down, refitted SIM, powered back up and it started working. I can't remember if I had to put it into General mode or if it came up automatically, but either way it worked!

I've since put the phone in and out of Offline mode just to check it's not going to sting me at a later date and all has been fine...

I think you said you've sent your phone off, but this just might help someone else?

Cheers

Cheers for the replys people, yeah the phones been gone for a week now.NSC at CPW said that flashing it would'nt work and that it is a hardware problem so they had to send it away.I was'nt there,my girl friend took it in for me,but i would've asked them to flash it any way just to see but there just no telling women sometimes. She could'nt be asked with all the hassle so she just said to them to send it away and i'm still waiting.........................................😡

After many many back ups & hard resets, I finally gave up and took it to the NSC (for the 2nd time in 4 months grrrrrr...) last week. Hopefully should get it, or a replacement back shortly.

Bloody annoying as I had only just registered Lumisoft Road Atlas & London Street Atlas, so you can bet your bottom dollar it'll be a new handset.
