Applications cannot be deleted

I have an error message when I start up the phone which tells me that an application cannot be loaded should try the memory card. I have looked at the application manager and there are a number of applications (1kb) in size which are not installed but I cannot remove them.

Any ideas would be appreciated, I do not know where to start with this one.

The easiest, though possibly time consuming, way is to switch off your phone, take out the memory card, and clear out all system directories that have been created by the N80 - this will delete the applications. The downside is that you will have to re-install all other applciations that you previously had installed there and that you wnat to keep.

(This way worked for me when I kept getting a similar error message, though my problem was I couldn't find the application it was telling me it couldn't load. Fortunately I keep all my sis files on my memory card, so it was easy enough to reinstall those I wanted.)

write down the name of the apps, then using the phone as a card reader (or using a card reader) make sure you have hidden folders visiable on the pc, run a search for these files, delete them and then you should still have everything else.

-worked for me when i reformated, but this time (after firmware ugrade) i cant use my phone as a card reader (memory card in use error) but will sort it with a card reader soon (some reason my laptop card reader doesnt like my card).

Hi thanks for the advice. Only problem is the error message does not tell me which application cannot be loaded. Looks like the only option is to delete everything and reload only the data I want.

go into application manager and it will show the application and say uninstalled, for some reason it gives them funky hexidecimal names (hence the need to write down) but dont let that put you off. do a search for all these uninstalled apps and delete them all (just the .sis files, you may see folders with the same names, but just leave them).

You might find a driver upgrade for the built-in card reader may resolve this. I had to upgrade my laptop card reader's drive to gain 2gb miniSD compatibility.
